So just when SOD gets his director of football in place he is now looking for a new assistant as O'Kelly has left the building
Says he didn't like the way the club was being run, then says they can only go one way with the right decisions?? Also sports scientist Kunle Odetoyinbo and goalkeeping coach Nigel Spink are also to leave the club this summer? Is Nigel Spink leaving because with Lewis Carey and Dean Gerkin gone, Tom Heaton yet to sign a new contract we are going to try without goalkeepers? Happy to see Tinman come back if that's true, it was to soon for him before, I think he could be a good second man.
I guess its been because Villa has been struggling this season but on radio and tv Spinks has been interviewed on a number of occassions to ask what his thoughts are. Maybe he is looking to get in to the media business as he has got a body and face for radio
Are we to take O'Kelly's reason at face value? Or is it a further sign that all is not well at City with the others also leaving Sean's management team? I know how much daily travelling to and from work can drag one down. I did around 40,000 miles a year in the last few years before I retired in 2005 and the strain does affect one as you get nearer sixty years of age. But it does seem strange that he only came to us in January? Or do I see things that aren't there?
He was travelling from the midlands every day. That would piss anybody off. Wouldn't read to much into it. This made me laugh " the Bristol Post understands O'Kelly had become disillusioned with the way the club was being run" The post understands! Lying ****s. **** journalism. They'll make up anything to sale papers.
It's true that commuting can really take it out of you, but I think there is far more to this than meets the eye. O'Kelly has been with SOD twice now, and the two are clearly a tight-knit pair. For the assistant to leave so soon I cannot help but think that something has pushed him out, and if it's a board reason then does it mean that things aren't great for SOD either?
Totally different versions of the truth... http://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/article/20130510-richardokelly-815230.aspx http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22478512 Never believe what you read in the post....
They are apparently best mates and now they're not ?? Agree with Ender that there has to be more to this than meets the eye. I'm sure he knew what the commute would be every day before he took the job. I commute to Gloucester and back most days from South Bristol, and frankly it's a drag.
A round trip of 180 miles approx. Enough to quit a well paid job? I'm not sure about that. And on the same day, two others leave from SO'D's management team? Strange! All off to Everton?
So we are going to need a new G/K coach and an assistant manager mmmmmm what's David james doing atm anyone know?
But yes as for the commute 180 miles a day everyday does take it out of you, it might be different if you are the boss, as in John Wards case, or if the disappointment of the relegation hadn't happened who knows.
Just been thinking about this resignation might it be pride? Afterall it's one thing to be second in charge of a championship club another to be third man at a L1 club after the appointment over his head of the former head scout to DoF
sorry hawk it was a bit mean of me to say that and I am also sorry for thinking O'Kelly looks about 30 years older than what he is. But with Spinks he has got logic on his side when he when he speaks he makes good points. I guess for him as mentioned City dont actually have a goal keeper on their books at the moment unless Heaton does re-signs for us as the only other one is Castanheira in teh u21 squad who i guess has a u21 coach. But when one door shuts another opens for someone else, maybe someone like Keith Welch will come back to the club
