If we hadn't been relegated (guessing that a decent keeper would have kept us up), then we might not have got a new owner...
I dont think that would have been the case if anything being in the Championship still would have generated alot more interest other than Donald. Potential buyers were put off from us dropping down another league for the second season running. Shorts had us up for Sale for a long time so id have been suprised if he hadnt managed to get us a buyer before this season.
I know it's still early on in Donald s ownership but it's seems as though we've got an owner who cares about the club. We might have been relegated but I'm happy with the way things are turning out. We might have got a richer owner, but no guarantee they would have been a better one. Now let's hope my faith isn't misplaced
I like that not only is Donald and co. trying to fill out our depleted squad which is obviously a main priority but they are also bringing youngsters into the Academy from other clubs, I think this keeper is our fourth signing in this regard. Our current predicament will be rescued this season in my opinion by the Gooch's and Honeyman 's etc getting proper game time with the first team and the club's willingness to recruit these younger lads bodes well for our future as it could save us spending big monies on players who lets face it over the past five years have in general been dire. The future looks promising too me.
Two disastrous seasons have forced the hand of the club, and its owner, the bloodsuckers he mistakenly appointed (some bad luck here imo.) have departed, still one or two left in the dressing room, but their time is running out. I'm very optimistic for the future of SAFC thanks to the new brooms, onwards and upwards.
