Off Topic New Top Gear

Started this evening for the next 10 weeks.

Who's watching?

 

My mrs is watching last nights big brother!!

 

Me and I'm bored, same as same. Mind you it does have bigger ****s than Call The
Midwife on it!

 

Not me. This programme ceased to be relevant or interesting years ago. Maybe if it ever got to be about cars and motoring again instead of the childish fantasies of three middle aged adolescents.

 

Probably a load of ****s.

 

I don't mind the show, but it has become far too staged and scripted.

I have a friend who watches it religiously and believes it is shot candidly!

 

For anyone who likes it, I'm interested - what is it that you actually like? Are you just into cars so you'd watch any programme about that, or do you like the presenters and find them entertaining? I'm not into cars at all and consider Hammond and Clarkson to be 2 of the worst people who have ever lived so it's not for me, but I still appreciate that it's very popular and am interested as to why.

 

It's just 3 blokes talking bollocks and taking the piss out of each other without having to resort to hitting each other.
The sort of thing you do down the pub with your mates.

It's a very British thing.

 

Instead of watching on tv wouldnt that be more fun to do down the pub with your mates?

 

I like top gear. I share their sense of humour, I have a penis so I obviously like cars (I know it's not so insightful a lot of the time but some of the things are interesting) and as said above its just very British.

Generally the only people who don't like it so much are women, homosexuals and other softy PC types. And just generally boring people who spend most their lives whinging about people sitting down etc.

 

It's an interesting viewpoint. Being sexist and homophobic in one sentence takes some doing.

 

No I said it's LIKE going down the pub - it's not meant to be a replacement.....

 

Both me and the Mrs like this and watch together.

For some reason its seems fashionable to dislike Clarkson and Top gear

 

It was a bit of a tongue in cheek comment, I thought it was something Clarkson himself might say. And I would laugh at it and think "LAD".

 

That's exactly what it is, these same people who complain about them probably wear skinny jeans and have some sort of hipster beard.

 

I know it is very scripted, but I do like it, It always makes me laugh, easily pleased maybe but if it makes me giggle then no harm done. As for Jeremy Clarkson he says thing that many only think of saying, and he ain't bothered. If ya don't like it don't watch it simple as.

 

Is it really? I was unaware. I've just despised him, Hammond and said show for a good 5 years plus.

I've never been fashionable before.

If you like Thatcher I can completely see why you'd like Clarkson.

 

Which begs the question (and without wanting to spark any political debate), what is he doing on the BBC as one of their main men?

I'm not into politics but whenever it rears its boring ugly head on here I've seen posters accuse the BBC of being a lefty liberal organisation that panders to the PC brigade and lefty liberals in general.

Surely Clarkson is the polar opposite of their target audience?
