Hello World of Not 606 Due to the poor covarge of everyones fav european comp, the Europa cup in Sydney i was not able to watch the match but i was wondering if there was any player that stood out for Spurs tonight/this morning? I read alot of creativity on the part of Gio and Townsend but also alot of wasteful play by Pav and Defoe. Could anyone give me a brief run down? Cheers
Welcome to not606, KGK. I wouldn't say that any one player was outstanding, though Townsend caused them a lot of problems when he was introduced at half-time for Lennon. There was a bit of a lack of understanding with the final ball for a lot of the game and you could tell that the team hadn't played together that much. Dominated possession for most of the tie and created some very good chances, but their keeper had a very good game. Most of our dangerous play came from out wide. Thanks for the update Poll. Good to see alot of youth playing and getting the experience but i would have loved to of seen Harry Kane have more of a game and got on the score sheet. I rate the Kid and i think once he gets his first goal he will bag a few in this comp. Also good to see Pav and Gio score as it will either raise the value of them in Jan or put them on the track for a good run of form and possible comp for other regular starters. Can't see the Link as Work has banned all video footage due to over use, but will watch when i get home Cheers again
welcome as pnp said pretty much, gio and townsend were the stand out players for me with pav his usual lazy, wasteful self
I think Jake Livermore deserves a mention, nothing spectacular, just did the simple things very well all game, and kept things ticking from the middle, the only blot being giving away the free kick that resulted in their goal. Somehow david Pleat agreed with me! . Welcome aboard, are you staying up for the Goons, or getting up early?
hat is the general feeling of Gio on this forum as i really get mixed feelings about him from fellow spurs fans all over. For me he has all the potential in the world but quite often just like Taarabt potential does not make a player.
Well it is bank holiday weekend here so might just stay up for it at the local casino! Livermore is developing great and think if he continues to do the basics well the rest will come and he will be a great player for us in the future. The NLD should be a cracker i think as Arsenal will want to prove a point and Spurs will be out of the blocks from the get go. Fancy 3-1 spurs t be honest
Its a popular choice 3-1. If you're interested have a go on the Prediction League, doesn't matter its already started.
Good to have you on board Kings. I too am in Sydney. The match was shown on ESPN- if you have Foxtel, there will replays later today I'm sure. Little bit uncomfortable for while, but the fitness and higher class eventually kicked in.
Yeah not got Foxtel but i may pop out on my lunch break and demand it on at one of the bars in North Sydney! saw the highlights of the NexGen match with PSV but was is dutch (which is the funniest thing i have ever heard) Some great inter play and good to see it away from home against a very strong youth team like PSV!
Yes saw that too, tried to ignore the commentary and watch the game. If you don't see highlights of any our games there will always be someone on here to give you a link.
Happy days and with the help of footytube.com i can keep up to date as much as possible but nothing beats the live atmosphere of WHL!
Haven't had the pleasure of that for a while, but looking at going over next April- hopefully to see us grab 4th place .
Yeah that is when i am looking to be back in the UK as well, (well end of March) need to look at the fixtures soon to get it sorted.
Just checked the fixture list - there are 5 league games in April, also possible European and FA Cup too. All the league games are against mid table opposition.
To be fair I thought most of the lads played well tonight, even Pav. Gio was outstanding, as was Townsend. The only poor performer for me was Lennon, but understandable after being out for a while
Will be interesting to see who is on the bench for the NLD now that Gallas is out injured as well. Don't think Gio did his chances any harm by the sounds of things but i doubt Lennon will be on the bench but also you could see Townsend and Livermore.
Have to agree Ensil, Gio looked like he really up for this game. Defoe's lead up play for the 3rd goal was all class.
I think that Dos Santos is just getting back to some real match fitness, as he didn't really have a pre-season. I know that his future was up in the air, but that's still pretty poor management. He played in Mexico's Gold Cup Final win over the USA on 25th June and then didn't play again until the PAOK game on 15th September. Not surprising that he didn't look too sharp. I think that he did a lot of his best stuff down the left last night, putting some very dangerous balls into the box. His set-piece taking was a little erratic, but his crossing and movement were good. One ball in the first half was flashed right across the goal, just begging to be tapped in, but our forwards criticised him for it, as they didn't read it very well!
Actually I thought we played well as a team - no-one really stood out. Defoe was pretty poor in the first half but more than made up for it in the second half. I like the look of Townsend though - seems to be developing into a perfect back-up for Bale
