In order to improve the longer term stability and flexibility of the forums we are looking to move to a new home (site) in the not too distant future. If anyone would like to help evaluate the proposed new home and provide feedback to help prepare it for wider use, please have a look. Please note that during this process we need to be fully aware that a permanent migration to the new site will involve moving over all existing posts, and all posts on the new site at that time will be wiped clean. It is also likely that, during the trial period, data on the new site will be refreshed from time to time in order to keep things tidy. Therefore we should continue to place all new threads and posts on our present forum and copy and paste selected ones onto the new site. However, in order to fully evaluate we will need to create some threads and posts on the new site but must understand that these will be lost at some stage. We can of course copy and paste back to the present forum. It will be possible to link between the two I hope to get several volunteers as it is an opportunity to ensure the proposed site is to your liking before moving to it permanently. Don't know If I can be of much help, but once the new site is in place, I'd be happy to take a peek and offer up whatever I can.
Cheers Oddy. Cyc, it is in place but there is functionality missing and therefore work to be done before we can move over en masse. It is in a form where we can try it out though so I'll count you in.
Oddy, Cyc and attivo have been invited to join the group "Trial for Horse Racing Forum" More volunteers please
If you would just like to have a nose before deciding whether to participate just post your interest here and I will invite you to join the group
Hi Ron - I spend most of my days attached to a keyboard so access is easy for me - count me in if it helps ..
Hi Ron - Initial view is that the new site offers simpler navigation , increased ability for posters to edit earlier pots (though would be good to identify those posts that have been edited) , better notification / conversation functionality , like the flashing beacon to signify online / not , simpler voting button options ... just looks fresher and cleaner all around .. I'll continue to test .. thanks Oddy for the test conversations !
I am a complete luddite I am afraid Ron and walk around in a strop for a week whenever windows introduce a new operating system, and then when everyone says that I should move to a Mac I never do because I know the transition will be even worse. My feedback is the following, based upon not one view or usage attempt. Leave it alone, what's wrong it works and I know what I am doing, if I try to do something which I previously knew how to do and now do not I will likely swear and blame you, numerous times.
Blue and Jamba. I've invited you to the group. Please have a look and tell me what you think Welcome to the Test Site I'm pretty certain it's a case of when rather than if we move over. There are sound reasons for moving. Have a read of the message from Mick (site owner) then have a nose round. Any feedback would be appreciated PS when you get into the site, next to your avatar there is a little envelope. Click on that and you can see the conversations you are engaged in (equivalent to Groups).
