New deal just been announced that Sky will continue to show LIVE football league games till 2018

The live games will increase from 70 to 112.

Not sure how those extra 30 matches will be divided between the Championship and the 1st and 2nd divisions.

Lets hope we can get back into the Championship for season 2014/2015

I hope we are not on TV at all unless it's some northern outpost.

I'll wager that the greedy Premier League will have the lions share as usual.

When was the last time Sky showed a L2 league match aside from the Playoff's ? L1 wont fare any better but the Championship might

Its only gone up due to sky losing 30 premier league games to BT Sport. So instead of watching Man United vs Arsenal it will be Barnsley vs Yeovil. My mum pays for the sky package with sports but if it was me I would get rid of it. Can't lose 30 top games and replace them with L1 and L2....

    So what.

The money only goes to greedy agents and players.

It's all about the rich getting richer and to hell with the rest, so nothing will change for the likes of us.

    Those are not big games.

Football is now slave not master.

The downside of TV controlling football is obvious, and sometimes not so evident. Play off season match away v Stoke was moved to TV. Result was City lost, but also a large swathe of fans did not go, could that have affected the result and history? Perhaps.

I don't go into football that deeply. Its a hobby, I pay to watch my team the rest I just like to watch on the tv as the quality is better.

You don't have to think deeply. TV can make that hobby less regular and less accessible/affordable. I barely watch football on TV as it highlights how poor the standard is e.g one footed players of limited technique. Watching it live is an all together different thing.

I love the game, So when its on I tune it, Football is football, Some games are crap some are amazing. Ill always watch the premier league and hope one day somebody will be watching Bristol city vs man united on their tv

like you Shiny, I watch the other clubs on TV as well, it don't interrupt my life of watching City live, as we don't play on Sundays.
I don't have a favourite team that I like to watch football and other sports, and will probably watch the the golf over the next 2 days.

It would be good if football was football. It isn't.

Six weeks ago I watched Ajax U9's v Willem II U9's . It was breathtaking to see kids that skilled, one of the best players was female! It was also a bit sad to realize why British kids are so far behind.

The EPL and its TV money is designed by the likes of Arsenal and Manchester Utd to keep the Bristol City's down and not bring kids up to the standard of those Dutch kids.
