You have got to hand it to the Thai owners that the've further demonstrated their total commitment to the club with further investment in another new pitch. After previously investing over £100k to have the pitch relaided in January they are now investing £400k to have a new state of the art super pitch that will assist us to play our slick passing game. http://www.thisisleicestershire.co....new-pitch/article-3623804-detail/article.html If you put in the two new giant tv screens being installed, along with the new electronic pitchside advertising hoarding boards and the rumoured £1m paid to Real Madrid to play at the Walkers, the owners have shown they will pay whatever finances are required to assist us to get promotion. I've no doubt they have told Sven to get the best players possible to get us promoted and if we should get promoted can you imagine the investment they will make on the playing side in the Premier League!
Yeah, the investment from the Thai's is very encouraging. Not only that but the sustained investment. Sometimes you get these wealthy owners who invest some money at the start as a token gesture then are unwilling to spend any more money - not these guys though. This Desso Grassmaster system is supposed to be state of the art and is used by many of the top clubs. I wonder how big a factor it was in Swansea's home form and just how much it helped them to play their passing football. It's even the system that solved Wembley's pitch problems so it must be good.
Hi 1884 That brings it up to £500K on just the playing surface no one can say the owners are going to play hit and hoof football!
Nev - Plus the £1 million being spent on Real Madrid and the money for the TV Screens. You might well shoot me down for saying this but I know it's good that the owners are investing money into the commercial development of the club but somthing tells me that maybe, it would be better to invest the money into the playing staff first and then once the squad is sorted, then go and invest in these other areas. I'd have a quality squad rather than a Real Madrid friendly any day.
Well there's been no suggestion that they will not invest in the playing staff. I think they will invest in all areas of the club both on and off the pitch. Investment in the commercial side will bring obvious benefits to the playing side. I also think they will seek to extend the capacity of the ground when we get promoted at the earliest opportunity.
You have to admit, the entertainment next season will be top class. With so many good teams in the league next season and with all this money being spent on us I think we'll enjoy what will happen no matter what!
A lot of this investment will be self funding through the commercial ventures they are undertaking. Negotiating a deal to show our matches live on Thai TV will bring enormous direct and indirect revenue. Think there will be more City fans in Asia than in Europe in a couple of years time.
