Enoch Showunmi on loan from Notts County until the end of season.....still has to be ratified by the FL.
Good luck to him (and us). Not a prolific goal scorer but big and strong and fairly quick by all accounts. Been around a bit and I think he may draw defenders to him, giving Reuben a bit more space to operate in. With only a few more games left he is more than I expected, so presumably JB has forked out some more cash.....
Do you work for Brent's PR machine lyndhurst? I didn't expect anyone else to be allowed in this season so whoever he is or where he comes from is a bit irrelevent for me. I agree that Reid needs a partner and to be honest there wasn't one on show on Tuesday.
no, but if the club and/or JB are really skint then presumably we wouldn't have brought someone in (assuming we are paying his wages). Am sure the cynics will say that it is a last desperate act of a man who knows his empire is about to go belly up-I prefer the theory that it could be worth the few extra quid to get a shot at the playoffs...
Well he is here now so we will see how it pans out won't we. You would have to ask the question that if we can afford another players wages then why did we need a cash injection from the Ex to prop us up before. Somehow one doesn't support the other does it. Assuming as you say we are paying his wages although I doubt he would be here for nothing.
He can't cost that much........Surely Torquay couldn't afford too pay him much, whilst on loan there recently ?
Yes perhaps Plym but he does cost something and anyway our contract for him may be more expensive than Torquay's was. Another something we won't know.
FFS Sensible, it was a chickenfeed £100k to bring Wrathall in and, as I read it, that went between Wrathall and Brent, not to the club. On the plus side, the guy is a Nigeria international, the downside he's another 500 spelling mistakes waiting to happen.
My Torquay contact (a fan with no insider info before you ask) this morning told me that he was on £3k a week and their inability to afford his wages was one of the main reasons for letting him go. I suspect he would have wanted a similar amount from us which seems a lot compared to what the rest are allegedly on?
My Torquay contact (similarly just a fan) says he was ummmm not that good for them but expresses the hope he might do better in a better side. His best strike rate is about 1:5....
There is no FFS about it notdistant. Brent said he would not allow ex directors back and then, because there was a cash flow problem relented on that. If it was only chicken feed money then why go back on your word and cause such an uproar. I'm sorry but if the money wasn't desperately needed then there is no way Brent should have done what he did. If it was desperately needed then why bring in more wages to pay when you have Morgan for example who is of similar build to this bloke. £3k per week?????? Can't see Brent sanctioning that anyway. I always thought it was between the clubs how much of the wages are paid anyway and not up to the player. The player gets paid whatever his contract says he should get irrespective of where he is and doesn't get a bonus for being loaned. The only say he has is whether he accepts the loan or not.
Sensible I'll ask again. Where did you see that Brent said that? I've had a root around and all I can see is Chris Webb saying that Brent said it. Although the cash is chickenfeed, presumably Brent thought he was a useful addition to the board. Brent has said he's satisfied that Wrathall was not the cause of the collapse, that he put money in to save the club and lost it and is a true fan. I've relayed what I've heard that Brent is stretched very thinly over his various interests and probably needs help on the board. I didn't say Torquay were paying £3k (or at least i didn't mean to) but that his wages were a reason his loan there wasn't renewed. I agree with you, I'm not a fan of 6ft 5 strikers, Strong my all means but not lanky. Smacks of desperation in finding players. The lad Torquay have brought in is more my style but as my Gull colleague says, he'll probably get lumps kicked out of him in League 2.
The answer is notdistant that I don't know precisely when he said it or where but it is certainly the most common belief by everyone, apart from you it seems, that he did say that. It was ages and ages ago right at the start and it may have been at one of the many meetings he had at the time with the supporters. These are people who sold the club down the swanee. Never mind one was more culpable that another. They were "The Board" and as such they were all to blame. It's not like these people were financially naive is it. This particular Director put money into Argyle when the collapse started and bought into the new regime's plans. That in my view was greed on his part and none of this "he was the most innocent" crap cuts it with me at all. He knew precisely what he was doing or trying to do. The Supporters wanted investment in the team that is true but none of them made the Director's spend what they didn't have. I don't care what anyone including Brent says now, I don't want any of the former mob anywhere near the Boardroom of Argyle and I expected Brent to keep his word even if I can't pinpoint where those words are.
He should of asked me for some Chicken feed ... Hope wrathal doesn't lose his money twice!! 100k is not chicken feed to Brent if he is Skint!!he is desperate more like it!
I think what he said before he took ownership was that no ex director was part of his bidding team. There was speculation at the time (which I did find) that Todd for one was involved in Brent's bid. That's a different thing. Personally, I think Stapleton & his crew did a fine job for PAFC until they brought in Gardner & others in an attept to give the fans what they wanted: a push for the Premier League. I appreciate I'm in a minority so please don't bother to tell me you all disagree but I think my opinion is founded on rather more facts and rather less passion and misplaced passion at that.
I actually agree with you notDistant.......Stapleton started playing with the big boys.....and they gobbled him up .......and took everyone for a one way ride to administration.
When for some reason.. they all thought we would get a world cup place.. at the time i stated admin was coming and to stay away.. i got a lot stick on 606 with some others for that.. but it was true.. Agree Stapleton was great until.. toad, gardener and the japs came along to help him push for the promised land.. we nearly ended up in no man's land.. I think we should forget the building of the stand and build the team to get up the leagues... we need to be going up this time next year! we may go up this time if we go on a run..
