According to the Daily Mirror Chris Hughton wants to sign 26-year old Stoke striker Cameron Jerome. What are your thoughts, do you think he'd be any good, how much do you think city should pay for him?
I do think we need to freshen up our striking options, though I dont think id go for this one... not exactly prolific in his career. I can think of a few better options come January.
i'd rather we spent our money elsewhere, if we need a striker, like abroad. better value for money than jerome or anyone else.
Thought he was good when he was at Cardiff but has done jack since. Better options abroad methinks - hope Mr Chester has his passport ready.
It doesn't matter who we buy at the moment, we aren't getting the ball up to the strikers in the positions they need it. Put who you like up there, if you don't give them the ball they won't score goals!!!!
Well said. I don't understand why people get so obsessed with buying strikers. If we were creating chances and missing them I would worry about our strikers but we aren't and with Harry Kane to come back to compete with the other 3 I am not unduly worried about the striker department. I am more worried about the continual lack of appearances of David Fox and little Wes as they are 2 players who can get things moving.
FOX should be starting I am right behind Mr Hewtun but cannot for the life of me understand why he is not in the squad, he makes goals he controls play
We need to play to the strengths of the players we have. Morison works best with crosses into the box for him to get his head on. Holt likes to chase things down and put pressure on defenders and force them into mistakes. Jackson needs balls played in behind the defence so he can use his pace to get on the end of them and turn defenders. At the moment we seem to be doing the exact opposite and playing to our strikers weaknesses. Holt is being used as a static target man, we're playing balls into Morison's feet or for him to run on to and hitting long balls up to the relatively short Jackson (and yes, I'm aware the only goal he's scored this season was a header) It's not a coincidence that in the Liverpool and Chelsea games Holt has been given more freedom to move around and chase things down and he's scored in both of them and generally looked sharper and more like the Holt of old and in the same fashion, against Liverpool, on the rare occasion we attacked in the first half, we were giving Jackson things to run onto and allowing him to turn defenders and he had arguably one of his best performances since joining the club
