We've been rumored to be in the market for a couple of strikers over the past month or two and I was just wondering who everyone would prefer and at the price their respective clubs are apparently asking for. Options: Cavani (Napoli) - Asking price rumored to be around £35-40m. Hulk (Porto) - Asking price rumored to be around £35-40m Jovetic (Fiorentina) - Asking price rumored to be around £25-30m Llorente (Bilbao) - Asking price rumored to be around £25-30m For me it has to be Cavani or Llorente, they are the only ones capable of adequately replacing Drogba and have both proved their salt in European football. I have serious doubts on trusting solely Torres and Sturridge over the course of 60+ games so it's obvious to me we need another world class striker. You only have to look at two of our fellow title challengers (both ended on 85 points) strikers: United - Rooney, RVP, Welbeck, Berbatov, Hernandez City - Aguero, Tevez, Dzeko, Balotelli No brainer
Utd and City will play 2 of them at a time, where as we will only be playing one. I agree that Nando and Studge wont be enough for the season and that we need cover. However; I think that a big name would upset the applecart. We either need a youngster who wont mind playing 2nd/3rd fiddle or someone who can also play on the RW ie Moses or Hulk.
Also keep in mind the way our team is setup now, with 3 attacking midfielders/playmakers and SCORERS. We don't need more strikers and the team is not setup for a big target man anymore. Think its time to get over Drigba and time to stop wanting to buy every good player. Torres and Sturridge are plenty for a one man attack with the world class midfield behind them. We will regularly be having multiple names on the score sheet from Marin, Hazard, Mata, Torres, Lampard, Oscar, Ramires even. So i voted none.. nuff said or get rid of Sturridge cause he either plays games or moves on at this stage in his career and then buy somoene!
Although I have posted a vote for Cavani, I hope we leave things as they are! Firstly because RDM has made it clear to the squad he wants goals coming from everyone on the pitch, secondly I want the likes of Sturridge and Lukaku to feel they have a role to play going forward and finally to keep FFP in sight!
Wouldn't be surprised if you signed Adebayor, to be honest. He's cheap and Torres is meant to be your first choice striker this season. If you're spending silly money you might as well get Hulk.
None of the above if I was a chelsea fan. Someone who has PL experience and wouldnt cost anywhere near those sums. I would look at Newcastles strikers That way if it doesnt work out then no big loss but if it does, master stroke.
We don't need another striker. We need to sort out our transition from midfield to attack, and make it faster and more varied. If we do that, we have more than enough players capable of scoring the goals required.
I have 2 options If we go for a big name and striker then my obvious pick wouldnt be the always talked about Cavani or Hulk but the more impressive Radamel Falcao, the guy is a genius, plays for a non champo league team, who havent fully paid his fee to Porto yet and who is a great scorer in European football, top scorer in Europa League last two years with different teams and can head and shoot with both feet, very mobile and tricky player and come to face it all strikers from Atletico seem to have easy times settling in (Torres & Aguero 1st seasons). 108 goals in 135 appearances since joining Porto from River Plate isnt far off phenomenal. Plus he has played in both one and two striker formations, a great ability to have. If we go for a cheaper alternative with proven premier league experience then Javier Hernandez is the guy we should really go after. We already enquired about him but he was left out of the match day squad for the Everton game so I think something is up. The guy can score goals that is certain and didnt mind being 3rd choice just not 4th and he would be 2nd choice for us, cost about 15m. Win win Another couple of players i saw that have looked decent are Senegals Moussa Konate and Mexicos Oribe Peralta, who were decen enough in the olympics, they could be cheap alternatives costing less than 5m
Hallejulah, I'm not the only one who thinks our midfield is hopelessly unbalanced. We need a proper Hoddle/Brooking/Modric type midfielder who stays in midfield and distributes the ball around like a conductor. The Matas, Hazards etc will absolutely thrive with this type of player. Maybe Oscar is the one, Lamps definately isn't.
Funny,I have been saying that for weeks and everyone told me Lamps was the man doing that job and he should be given a 3 year contract for it
We definitely need a striker. 2 recognised strikers isn't enough for all games. Loss of form injury and suspension leave us with no one. Yes we 100% need a striker.
I think we need both a midfielder and a striker. If Torres is injured (we all forget how injury prone he was at Pool) then we're ****ed.
Who the **** said anything about a 3 year contract and that he should play every game? Stop making **** up.
talking of making things up but where did I say that? Follow your own advice and STOP MAKING **** UP. 2 years then, happy now? Frank is currently the problem not the solution.
