Just a little off topic but I like Star Wars so on we go. Surely Disney cannot **** up the franchise more than the last 3 films so is this a good thing? If they follow the books then the new films may be quite good. The plot would be something like........ Luke rebuilding the Jedi Order and Han and Leia having twins that of course are strong in the force and a new threat of the Sith reappearing. So a good way of introducing old cast members and having a genuine follow up to the first 3 films. Geek hat off.
As long as they let Lucas nowhere near it, it may be good! Man had a great concept but Christ he's a terrible director. There was a trilogy of Lucas sanctioned novels by a guy Timothy Zahn set 20 odd years after ROTJ, would mean the wrinklies could star in them as their original characters. Can't remember the story lines in detail but fairly dark.
That's what I'm on about, it's set 20 years after ROTJ and the plot was as I explained, the bad guy is the emporer but he has cloned himself so there are lots of him. Pretty good story line.
I think they should go back to the beginning and re-boot the series, much as they have with Star Trek. Either that or set it in the past around the time of the Old Republic.
I read the books many years ago so can't remember them very well but I can remember it being a very good story that followed on from the films. Problem is will Disney just get something new? It would be stupid to do so as these books would work well.
I don't think so, the original 3 films stand up well and just moving on from them would be great. Redux of episodes 1,2 & 3 would be good though. Edit. RHC is gonna ****in' love this thread.
Other than the books of the film? According to the Star Wars wiki: the sanctioned novels run close to a hundred (couldn't count them all lol) They see to span from origin 25000 years before 6 films to way way after. You could discount a lot for being offshoots; like x-wing series, bounty hunter series etc. I think I sampled some of them. There are also a lot of "fillers" with main character story arcs filling between the existing films which could be ignored. I remember the one by Alan Dean Foster(Splinter of a minds Eye) set between the 4 & 5 that had Leia & Luke making out, which kind of proved what we all thought that Lucas came up with the brother sister storyline after filming the first & during the second (sorry 4 & 5). So lots to choose from
The New Republic Trilogy that I'm on about is by far the best set of books and well worth reading if you are a fan.
Might see if they're still in storage in my mums loft, she has a thing about it being against the law to throw out or sell books on so she pretty much has every book I ever had and couldn't be arsed bringing with me. There's also about a hundred films on VHS which are rotting in their cases lol.
Anything is possible. Harrison Ford did return as Indiana Jones after a 18 year absence. Sly returned as Rocky after a 17 year absence. There was a serious amount of years between the Rambos too. Who's to say Harrison Ford can't return as or Hans Solo the 4ths grandfather.
Imagine this -Star Wars 7 with guest characters from The Wizards of Waverly Place and The Suite Life.... You can't trust Disney. Should have given it to Seth McFarlane. Joking aside, I really think he has the enthusiasm and nerdishness to do it for real. He hates Disney though.
