    I saw this on FB

"work starts in May to put a second tier on top of the Elton John Stand. "

Any news on this one folks?

How reliable is that Yorkie? Scott Duxberry said at one of the open meetings that they did have plans for expansion, but it would not be this summer.

    Two replies:

"The person I got it from m is normally pretty reliable. But as you and another have said Scott said it will not be this summer so guess it's a waiting game."

" The forum I went to SD said he was in two minds whether to extend in the summer or consolidate for a year or so and then extend. He also said there were two or three options to increase capacity."

Adding capacity in the SEJ stand will cause more issues in Occupation Road after games - it is already packed with people exiting from The Rookery meeting those exiting the SEJ. So I would expect that further improvements will be required from a H&S perspective.

Maybe make Occupation Road a double-decker?

I am sure the people living behind Occupation Road will love whatever we do there. Maybe we should buy them all up and use the land.

That's another possible issue with extending upwards on the SEJ stand, it will block even more light from those gardens - I am sure there will be objections.

I think there were issues with trying to develop behind Occupation Road and they are considering doing the Vic Road end - moving the away fans into the LGT.

Surely they would have had consultations with planning.... and even outline planning permission?

The Vic End has great views but it is a cheaply built stand. It costs the club match day revenue as a result. The concourse are too small, can't get the fans served in time and alcohol is banned as a result. Minimal toilets too.
Putting the away support in the LGT is, for my money, a great idea. It is relatively easily segregated and the vocal support would also be dissipated.

Plus there's less need to care if my half time cup of bovril goes over the edge...:emoticon-0130-devil:emoticon-0105-wink:

Putting away fans in the LGT would also satisfy a little bee in my bonnet about having them out of main camera shot. I always think that grounds like Goodison, Selhurst, Villa, Stamford Bridge etc give a better reflection of the home support; whichever end the home side scores at you get reaction, when the away side score there's just a distant cheer and the TV producer has to cut to a close up.

All agreed. Always thought the away fans have too much prominence behind the goal. It would be great to have home fans behind the whole of the Vic Rd end goal.

I would put the Leeds fans behind the Rookery - i.e. in the allotments. On the other hand that would be unfair to the allotment holders.

Seem to recall play off semi final against Birmingham at home the Brummies were put in the Lower Rous as it was then and agree with above comments on how much better the atmosphere was. Would fully support the club going down that route. Also would be funny to think of the upper tier leaning over and telling the away fans to be quiet lol....

Most fans think the same about giving away supporters the lower Sir GT stand. Only possible issue is for cup games and having to give additional seats - where could they go?
