The post office has issued some new postage stamps with british football great's.Jimmy Greaves and Dave Mackay are two of them,no Arsenal or Chelsea players amonst them though, some of the others are;John Charles Bobby Moore ,Gordon Banks,Bobby Charlton George Best,& Denis Law
Surely Viv Anderson would've been a better selection, despite being an ex-Goon? Actually won more, too.
John Barnes currently talking on Sky's Fantasy Football show about being chosen for a Royal mail stamp and there's been several showings of his goal against Brazil. No doubt about it, it was a great goal.
Barnes is a tory and therefore 'acceptable' to the establishment. He might be a one goal wonder but he's our one goal wonder!
So if 'winning more' was the criteria for being chosen there would have been a few changes to those that actually did get chosen.
I think it's justified. Barnes did a huge amount for black football in this country, his legacy is arguably greater than many of the others on the list. Footballing greatness shouldn't be based purely on individual success or ability, but what the contribution is for future generations to enjoy.
