With the recent LFC press release making a new stadium seem FSGs likely choice and equally strong rumours of there being naming rights... Thought we should have a competition as to the most unlikely / funny stadium name we could end up with... Prizes for the best effort...
I don't think this is funny at all. Anfield is part of our club. The name Anfield needs to move with us as do the other details i.e the flag the gates and the This Is Anfield sign. "It’s there to remind our lads who they’re playing for and to remind the opposition who they’re playing against!"
Ok... This wasnt meant to get all serious. Obviously we would all prefer to keep anfield and it's powerful memories and history. This was meant to allow people to show how ridiculous naming rights are by giving you a forum to come up with ironically bad names... But hey go lose your senses of humour if you want...
I wouldn't worry about it, I think we're all just a little worried about moving etc.. at the moment. Funny names could quite possibly become a reality
not606.com arena? ( stadium ) I do hope they move all of the gates, memorials, This is anfield and design the entrance to the field in a similar fashion to help try and keep the old Anfield with the new. Also hope they build it to maximize the noise, more up than out.
I think those things are a must too, and I doubt anyone managing the stadium would have a problem with it, it's not like they're going against the aesthetic.
In the light of the European and US financial crisies then I think that we should forget about new stadiums, and maybe even refurbishment, until the global fiancial markets settle. OK I may be pessimistic but I think that the world economy is about to tip into a rather deep recession and I don't want to see us squeezed by excessive borrowing when we've only just escaped from that position.
I like the idea of theme sponsorship weekends so for example: It'll be the Specsavers arena whenever Howard Webb is due to referee... the Bells whiskey stadium when Fergies in town? Tetley Bitter for the visit of the blues? Burberry for the home game against Chavski? Apple for the visit of the "Mac"kems...(sorry) All in all I think my money will be on...The Red or Dead Arena
I whole heartedly agree with you actually but never mention it anymore as I thought I was in the minority of one these days Anyway I thought I'd enter into the light hearted banter simply because it's Sunday night and I'm way too tired to be debating too seriously tonight I've got one more possibility actually... Vileda Supermop Stadium...because we're going to wipe the floor with everybody this year
I know it might sound foreign...... ( joke in there)...... but here in Cinci, on the MLB team, the reds ( literally), on the stadium it has a quote from one of the years they won the title, " Rounding third and heading home..." Think that would be up in the mix? If so, " AHHHHHHH YOOUUUU BEEEAAAUUUUTTTYYY, take bow son, take... a.... bow"
The question is not do you want to stay, because we'd all rather stay. The question is how much are you willing to compromise on effectiveness for the sake of tradition? Mid-table at Anfield or top-table at Branded Stadium? That's looking more and more like our choice. I've absolutely no doubt there were people who doubted Shanks when he changed the strip to red.
