Marcos Painter, a left back, just released from Brighton has signed - details not known yet.

More details slipping out - it's being reported that Painter is having a medical today and will be signing until January, initially.

Danny East was played out of position as he was put in as left back last week although he is more a right back or midfielder really.

According to WIKI, he is 6' tall, and can play centre back or even left side midfield.

Sounds quite versatile, so could be useful.

Depends how much we are paying our new defender per week, dev. He has just left a Championship club in Brighton, so one must wonder how much of a drop in earnings he was willing to accept, to drop into Division 2.

I can't see the club "breaking the bank" to sign him, so presumably he has agreed an acceptable wage as far as PFC are concerned, and if Dan Butler does go out on loan to another club that will free all or part of his wages, enabling the club to bring in say one more player.

Shaun Cooper would be a good signing; in my opinion; as he is virtually a utility player, and most importantly he is a local lad who wants to play for us.

Adam Webster going on loan freed up this playing slot and wage slot.

Remember though that the playing budget was increased from £1.1mil PA to £1.2mil PA because of increased revenue from ST sales, and that the incresed budget was for a total of three players. Simon Ferry and Painter so far, although Painter doesn't really count seeing as Webster, is off the books for now.

Painter had a good game today offered cover all round. Got a few shots away and can even take a decent corner.
