Martin O'Neill is believed to be close to finalising a deal for Chelsea right-back Paulo Ferreira, for an undisclosed fee. O'Neill has targeted the experienced fullback for a modest sum in a bid to provide defensive cover in the upcoming months. Ferreira has been at Chelsea for seven years now and can play either right-back or left-back. Hope not
Hope not as he's really not what we need, would be on high wages as well. In other news seen on twitter we have a ghanaian midfielder on trial Albert Bruce 19 years old.
Ah noooooo, on a par with the Greek last January although I doubt he would be that bad. Whats the point in wasting money on temporary options, just identify a young prospect int he position we need filled/covered and go for him. Having said that this will just be a rumour and hopefully thats all it is.
Paulo Ferreira used to be a top class full back but he is finished now and after what he has won with Porto and Chelsea why would he come here and be hungry for success? He probably thinks wer crap as well and I have to say if I was in his shoes I would see out the Chelsea contract and then retire. We should be looking at young hungry players rather than players like this who are way past it and won't be arsed.
african players are away on Africa cup of nations for about 6 weeks (Newcastle are faced with that problem next month) so as i said could be a dodgy signing, and do they like our weather ( mind i would not mind Drogba signing for us !) and we need players in their 20's, knowing they won't be stuck in the reserves for months on end. I believe Danny will sign for us and he will be great. Also i have heard Meylar is coming back from Hull on loan, but where will he play?.
I assumed he was retired by now, doubt he'd be a good signing. I wouldn't use the ACON as a reason to not sign a player, its 4-6 games every two years and (as is the case with Newcastles strikers) doesn't always result in your players going away. Plus every two years the european players play for 11 months straight which the African players only have to do every four years - there's probably just as many reasons why that is a negative as well.
Hope not he is well past it don't think he's played for Chelsea for a while either so will be rusty knackered and 3 ****ing 4 in January.
Oh dear lord. Paulo Ferreria. He was only good because of his flowing locks blowing in the wind. I would never hear the end of it from my chelsea supporting mate.
You lot seriously think he's worse than the current back up at RB? Behave. We are weaker than a scared kittens piss there, I'd welcome anyone with legs that understands the words right and back.
Similar to the news in today's BBC gossip... 'Sunderland are eyeing up a move for Everton's 35-year-old defender Sylvain Distin. ' Hurrah, old stop-gaps in defence to go with our existing old stop-gaps. We're saved...
I'm unsure about Distain and Ferreira. Could be inspired. Could be ****e. Doubt their wages would be too much a problem. Ferreira is hardly going to be asking for the world.
As Stu says these two are stop gaps so if MON is looking at them why not loans? Distain isn't bad but, why are Everton cutting him loose?
