During Wards post match interview today, he said one of his targets that he wants to join us on loan should be joining us this coming week. The club has agreed to let their player join us and the player himself wants to play for us. Monday Ward will speak to their manager to complete the deal and pending no new injuries/suspensions after this weekends games, the player should join us during the week.

He seemed pretty confident that this would happen.

Not as outlandish as it sounds. Sears has been on the fringe of the Colchester team and hasn't played much for them this season. JW will know him from Colchester and could help him rediscover his undoubted talent. The U's have an established front pairing of Sanchez Watt and Clinton Morrison so they may let Freddie come to us.

It kind of fits in with the 'keep him for the weekend/unless there's no new injuries' scenario that John was talking about.

I would imagine he's a bit like Elliot, except hopefully better. He hasn't got a stunning strike rate, but he could do well for us in L2. I would be happy to have him on board - he's only 24 despite seeming to have been around forever <ok>

If it is Freddie Sears, that could be a great signing.

As BB said not a great strike rate but most of him experience comes from Premier and championship, he will either score loads of do bugger all.

    Time will tell

It does seem like he has been around forever - we remember him for scoring the "non-goal" at Ashton Gate for Crystal Palace - it still makes me smile to remember Warnock's reaction!!

5 goals in just 14 appearances this season is a decent return. Looks a shrewd signing for us if it happens...

Good! We might let him carry the ball forward instead of humping him long balls.

Are we sure he isn't another injury candidate?

even ROD could score that many goals that far down the leagues! think i read something like he plays 6 divisons lower than the conference??? think the step up would be too much for him and no way would he be fit enough to play professional football straight away. a big gamble if he is suppose to be our saviour!

its nice that we could be looking at non league players like how we use to do but think this is a big risk.

im not slating him or dismissing him without even kicking a ball for us but its a massive gamble. no way in my opinion would he be match fit to the standard that he would need and scoring for fun 6 or 7 divisions below league 2 would be a big step up for him. big gamble. if we were safe then why not but were not safe.

I bet the lad would give his all to be given the opportunity. And it wouldn't cost a lot to give him a chance!!
