As we're about to go through a pretty large transition with the departure of Suarez and the arrival of, well, quite a few! I thought that I'd start a thread to share some first insights and opinions on some of our new signings as pre-season really takes shape and we see them in the shirt. I'll add some of the fringe players here too as it's quite realistic that one or two of them will break into the first team this year. So the new signings so far (I will update as signings are actually confirmed): New Signings Lambert Lallana Can Markovic Fringe Players Ibe Suso Texeira Ilori
Went down like a lead balloon that one The reserve thread covered this last year and also we had loan watch... As long as you put the effort in for this one I say more power to you
Ah well, if it sinks it sinks....I have a feeling we'll have up to or over 7 new faces and many of them £20m plus players....or the potential to be big names. Plus lads like Ibe coming through.....would be interesting to see how they get on pre-season and even beyond and get peoples views on them. btw, Ibe is looking very good. Am interested to see him play against a decent defence.
I'd be more interested in seeing him convert golden one on one chances rather than fluff his lines... Oh and get a haircut... The Worzel wannabe
Same could be said for Sterling a year ago and look where he is now!....and he still needs to improve! Have high hopes for Ibe.
I have seen Ilori play a few times and he will be a very good player. If for some reason he doesn`t make at Pool i still feel sure he will make it at a top club
Have heard lots of good things about him and would like to see him get a chance.....especially over the likes of Toure. My guess is that he'll be loaned out again this year
Ian Rush believes Liverpool's pre-season tour of the United States presents a prime opportunity for the club’s youngsters to show Brendan Rodgers what they're capable of. The Reds touched down in Boston on Sunday to kick off their two-week American visit, where they'll play four matches in a quartet of different cities as they ramp up preparations for 2014-15. Among the travelling party were a number of Liverpool's fledgling stars - as well as new signings Rickie Lambert, Emre Can, Adam Lallana and Lazar Markovic. Rush insists now is the time for everyone to catch the eye of the manager. He told LFCTour.com: "Pre-season training is very important as we prepare for the season. If you miss a pre-season in this day and age, you miss out on everything else all season. "This is a vital time for Brendan to look at what he's got and look at the younger players and new signings. "We have two weeks here in America for Brendan to see what they're all about, and that's vitally important." Rush was among the Liverpool party that departed John Lennon airport on Sunday lunchtime and will continue his duties as a club ambassador alongside Robbie Fowler over the next fortnight. And Anfield's all-time record goalscorer insists it's not just the players who'll be putting in the hard graft as the LFC Foundation prepare to run a series of community events. He said: "We'll have the LFC Foundation working hard here in Boston, and it's important for the local community to get involved. We've always said we don't just want to 'get in and get out' - we want to leave a lasting legacy. "The coaches from the LFC Foundation are the ones that do all the hard work. We turn up [to sessions] and everything is prepared for us. "We see ourselves as a family club, and we hope to show America - and the world - what Liverpool Football Club is all about." Liverpool are not the only Premier League club to be visiting the United States this summer - a total of nine will also be venturing across the Atlantic Ocean. Americans' interest in football is currently red hot following their national team's outstanding showing at the World Cup - making it the ideal time to visit, according to Rush. He reflected: "The USA had a good World Cup. People are into their football out here, and it's vitally important we come here. "To see so many English Premier League teams here is a story in itself. There are also a few Italian teams out here and it tells you that football in the USA is getting bigger and bigger." http://www.lfctour.com/news/latest-news/america-trip-is-youngsters-chance
He was asked himself last season and he said "eeb" Did I detect on Saturday that Rossiter had bulked up ever so slightly? If he can do it a bit more you might see him near the end of the season or maybe in the league cup. Next year more likely though.
Don't get me started on the way commentators pronounce foreign footballer's names. It does my ****ing head in
