Still a bit early for the new season but with the performances so far how do you think the two N.E teams will fare this time, also would like to hear your views on the two managers , I hesitate to gives you my own views as my post will be immediately moved to a more obscure position
I think that Sunderland will finish higher than Newcastle. Newcastle will start to really wobble sooner rather than later whilst Sunderland will settle into a half decent position. The fans here will be thinking more of relegation than Europe is what I feel. And all those new signings? We've seen this before when a whole pile of promising young things turn up in one go; the whole things turns to a mess shortly afterwards with the better players being disillusioned and sold and the remainder spending their life here confused and under performing. Whereas down the road things will tick along nicely and they'll do slightly better than they did last season. And, of course, both legs of the derby will go to Wearside and our manager will asked to be judged on a charity match against the Wallsend Under Fifteen Paraplegic XI which will result in a scrappy 1-0 win thus ensuring his tenure to be continued for another decade. Optimistic I am not.
Certainly not as bad as you make out, contrary to popular opinion I cannot believe that Cisse can loose his goal scoring ability permanently he will be back, Ben Arfa is a different proposition his problem is motivation
Its incredibly difficult to predict how any of our seasons will go! We both are capable of suprising a few but also capable of having an utter nightmare! But being a Sunderland supporter if you said to me now that we would end up on the same points as Newcastle at the end of the season I would take your arm off! Make of that what you will!
We will sell all of our best players and get relegated. Fredor.. Just a thought but a thread like this would also work on the Mackem board....
No matter who we have or bring in the limiting factor is Pardew .. The team isn't that great (same as last few years basically)...but Pardew will always be dragging it down to his level (mid table championship) ..Anything we achieve will be despite him Sunderland ..have a worse team/squad..but are being lifted/enhanced by Poyet
They have all been infected by Mr T's optimism and now the worst case scenario IS what they all think!!
Pardew had always done pretty well when we have had a half decent squad, we were around 6th and only points off champions league the christmas gone if my memory serves correctly, and this all after a shaky start and the whole cabaye scenario. Problem this year would seem to be the obvious one of scoring goals, along with our mostly unaltered defense (which I'm not too worried about as long as we learn to score) our lack of cabaye to gel the team and dig us out and pardews often inscrutable tactics and total inability to kill off games. If all collude against us we could be in big trouble but I think we are better than that. As usual though we will be one or two injuries off total chaos but maybe slightly better in regard to that than usual. The other present problem is getting the team to gel but we all know how that works and anyone writing the potential off already is a joke, two premier league games for a bunch of foreigners new to the club is really nothing. Providing we actually do manage to score goals I think we could be a fairly decent counter attacking force and do a few big teams again. As for sunderland I think you will do pretty well and be less of the unwieldy cloggers of yesteryear with players that I look at and think ' I thought he was one of those fringe players off pro evo with the incorrectly spelled names'
Gonna go against the grain and say Pardew has managed the team very well in the first two games. Nobody could have begrudged us a point against the champions and we should have comfortably beaten Villa. De Jong, Cabella, Perez and Gouffran all missed what can only be described as golden opportunities, that's not Pardew's fault. Villa created nothing. Sunderland were good in the first 45 mins against the red half of Manchester but second half they completely ran out of steam, Man Utd had all of the ball but did nothing with it. We clearly lack a top striker but plenty of positives so far for us in my opinion. We're playing out from the back well, team ethic and sprit has improved ten fold, we look defensively solid and have so far just lacked a bit of luck (conviction) in the final third of the pitch. Not sure how Pardew can be criticised so far this season. As for the two teams, I think we'll finish in the top half again and Sunderland will be just below us (11th-13th).
I have to agree with this assessment. We played well against Man City even though we lost and were all over Villa, and should have put at least 1 of those chances away. Make judgements after 10 games but the quality is obviously there, we should finish top 10 and above the mackems
Your fellow fans over there aren't a bad bunch.. give them a try fella you may be pleasantly surprised.
you ****ing haemorrhoid. I actually think both teams will be fine, a season or 2 ago, if i took of my rose tinted glasses and did a best team from the 2 combined, NUFC players may have dominated the team. But this season it's not that easy..
