Queens Park Rangers are to further strengthen their recruitment department by appointing Steve Hitchen, Stuart Webber and Hans Gillhaus as a team of three head scouts.

The trio, who have all held senior positions at Champions League clubs, have been hand picked by Mike Rigg, the club's new technical director. Hitchen and Webber have been employed at Liverpool where they were head scout and director of academy recruitment.

Gillhaus held senior scouting positions at PSV Eindhoven and Chelsea before working as sporting director for Belgian Pro League club Zulte Waregem last season.

I love the way we are developing behind the scenes. Everything that needs to be put in place has been done in double quick time. The level of proffesionalism our club has attained in less than a year is incredible. We are very fortunate.

Great news, hopefully this means we will have more signings for the future rather than 1 year stop gaps.

Everything said on this thread is spot on - great foundations being built.

I also have to agree with Staines - The CB is dead, long live Secret Ranger (it's good to hear your views mate).

I think they all specialise in scouting for hidden gems in their mid 30s. ;)

Just one question, and I am playing devils advocate here.

How many youngsters have Liverpool brought through the ranks recently - and how many hidden gems have they signed?

I can only think of two - one being Martin Kelly. And the other? Raheem Sterling.

I thought very similar....not too impressed with the state of liverpools team or youngsters TBH

At least we're doing the right thing though...I think?

Fair point - I wrote that during a comfort break escaping from a stupidly busy Wednesday night, so I didn't put much thought in it. Gerard's, Carraghers, Macmanamanamanamanamanaman's and Fowlers don't grow on trees.

Interestingly, I never know when to stop spelling Macmanamanamanamanaman's name.

Hitchen and Webber have been employed at Liverpool where they were head scout and director of academy recruitment under Damien Comolli.

The decision of Liverpool's American owners to dismiss Comolli as their director of football strategy, and his planned replacement by David Fallows, previously at Manchester City, had left Hitchen and Webber in limbo.

Fallows is due to take over some of Comolli's duties at Anfield with Barry Hunter, another recruit from City, operating as the club's new chief scout.

Gillhaus held senior scouting positions at PSV Eindhoven and Chelsea before working as sporting director for Belgian Pro League club Zulte Waregem last season.

He lost his post at Chelsea during a clear out of Frank Arnesen's recruitment department.
