Sign him up Marty just what we need, a modern day attacking full back to offer competition to Bardo
I could probably go to the local park and find competition for Bardsley. My 9 month old might just be a little bit better than Bardsley. on a serious note, The Bundesliga is a great league and theres some cracking players there and best of all you get good value for money.
You;'ve been saying the same about Bardo for ages Parker - you are on of the only SAFC fans who thinks he had a bad game against QPR. "Competition for Bardsley is a good idea but there aren't many better right backs available (And I wouldn't swap him for Danny Simpson or Glenn Johnson) IMO one of the best right backs outside of the top 4
I have to say mate I think your wrong I think Bardsley is poor, people love Bardsley because he shows commitment and can put his foot in but he is a very limited footballer and all these poor runs we have been on in the last 3 or 4 season's he has always been apart of those teams, obv. you cannot put that down to him but we need better. In this modern day you need full backs who are good on the ball and we know this from watching Rose, now what a player Rose is, Bardsley is not fit to lace his boots IMO, Rose will go on and play for England and have better options than us in the summer whereas Bardsley has been lucky to still be here IMO he is woeful on the ball and I would rather see Gardner play there the sooner we bring in better in that position the better. Glenn Johnson I dnt like the lad but is head and shoulders better than Bardo and I think even that ****** Simpson is better. For this club to improve the likes of Bardsley, Cuellar, Colback, Larsson cannot be anywhere near the first XI, we have seen it in the past players who play for us who only have commitment and not a lot of anything else and when they go and we replace them with quality we do not miss them at all, Danny Collins springs to mind.
**** me I wonder what the lad has to do to get some people support - mine is an "opinion" - it cannot be wrong by definition. Your opinion is that Bardsley is not as good - but he is a far better defender than Johnson and is almost as good going forward. Simpson is ****e - even the mags say that - by the way - you singl;er out Bardsley as being part of all of the bad runs - has he not also been part of the good ones? Why not pick that fact - think it's time to agree to disagree but I will never say your opinion is wrong - I will simply say I disagree with it Bardsley wins a high percentage of tackles, scores goals, creates chances from the wing, puts a good cross over (most of the time), and was second only to Danny Rose on Tuesday night - I rate them both as footballers and I hope Bardsley finishes his career with us
There's nothing wrong with improvement but seriously, just who is out there, that we can realistically get, who is better? If you rate Danny Simpson mate you're struggling to win my vote. Even the mags think he is ****e. Glenn Johnson is a decent footballer but he won't be joining us anytime soon.
saying Simpson is better might of been phrasing it wrong, more like I think Simpson is less ****e as he seems to offer slightly more going forward
Bardo show commitment to the cause yes, but I just dont think he is good enough as a footballer. His delivery into the box is either non-existent or poor. Apart from the odd daisy cutter that manages to find its way into the bottom corner, his shooting is poor. Any decent winger, especially one who is looking to cut in just gets given a free pass. Remember Bardo vs Duff last season? He isn't quick enough. People are right though, there isn't exactly a plethora of good right backs knocking about right now, especially in the Prem. I admire his commitment, I think its commendable that his head doesn't drop even when we are down. But effort is no substitute for skill. And every now and again you are going to get found out about it. If we could clone Danny Rose i would put him in there straight away. But imo Gardener did a great job at right back, just a shame we have no decent cm's so he can go back there again. The lad will continue to get my support when he is on the pitch, that goes without saying, and I think everyone can appreciate what he has done for the club since we signed him. But he is (I think) the only Keane player still there, and sometimes it shows.
Tell me what the main purpose of a right back is?? Is it to score goals?? Is it to create chances?? Or is it to defend? You are a right sided DEFENDER - Bardsley is as good as Simpson going forward (how many goals did Simpson score or set up last season?) Bardsley scored 2 and assisted one last season Simpson scored 0 and assisted one - does that screm he's better going forward to you?
Well look what Spurs back up left back is doing here, how about their back up right back Kyle Naughton?
Don;t rate Johnson cest! Very poor defender IMO! Think Bardsley is the new Cattermole - i.e. we sing his praises and see how good a player he is but loads of others slate him - only for in half a season everyone to change their minds and agree?? Think this'll happen personally
in todays game you need to be able to do more than just defend, look at the worlds best in Dani Alves, Jordi Alba, Marcelo, Ashley Cole, Phillip Lahm etc. and they are all very comfortable on the ball. Assists is a pile of crap, you could do all the work to set up the goal and just because you don't play that last pass to the goalscorer it doesn't count as your assist
You list players like Ashley Cole, Philip Lahm and Dani Alves - we are not talking about players like that because these are world class full backs which we could NEVER attract. What good is a full back that can make and score goals if he's to blame for letting more in than he makes or scores? Would you be happy with an attacking full back who sets up a goal a game but, due to defensiive frailty, is to blame for conceding a goal a game as well? A full back is exactly that - a BACK 4 player who can get forward - it is pointless going "all out attack" when you have a full back who can defend that is a big plus - Bardsley is very comfortable on the ball and very rarely gives it away when passing - he' no Ussain Bolt but why does he need to be? Johnson costs Livepool more goals than he makes or scores for them, same with Simpson at Newcastle - if he defended the ones and didn't create any then the sides would be in a better position
