I don't want Vergini playing there as he should be CB, which is his natural position.

I'm going with Lowton from Villa. Young, bags of energy, good in the tackle and composed on the ball. Just what we need. I think him and Alonso on the other side would give us tremendous balance.

    Any other shouts?

Sebastian Corchia, for once let's try for the BEST option, not the ****ing easiest.

Or Ignacio Abate from Milan, supposedly keen on moving to England.

    Pricey? Maybe. Quality? Unquestionably.

I'm hugely disappointed personally but we move on I guess.

However, if Vergini is the replacement it will only increase the disappointment as his role should be centre back and I'm tired of safc putting square pegs in round holes.

Celustka looks solid to me, but not top drawer. Another quality full back and signing Alonso at LB would be ideal.

Apart from Alonso, I don't think we have any 'top drawer' defenders marra.
The defence is more than a 'rebuild job'... I think we require 'planning permission' first!!

I thought Vergini was quality at right back but looked like a little boy lost at centre back, so I'm not sure why having him as our first choice RB would be such a bad thing? If he continues to progress at this rate he could become a very accomplished full back. Positions aren't set in stone and it can't hurt to have a bit of versatility.

Would welcome the signing of Corchia with open arms however!

Richards, Clyne or Naughton for me like. let's sign a young & fast RB for once.

Richards will replace Sagna at Arsenal, Naughton I don't rate massively.

Clyne however, would be the ideal almost, we should have had him when he left Palace, quality, quality RB.

we need the whole defence worked on to be honest. vergini looked good at right back, a lot better then he looked in the centre so i would keep him there. get alonso signed up on a long term deal and find a replacement for jos

I think Poyet will give him more chances there tbh ......... I bet he plays him there in the pre-season games.

Richards could go to Arsenal like. forgot about sagna leaving.

The last match I watch Clyne in was against Everton & he was class pal. Deulofeu didn't get a kick.

I would take any of the 3 players I said like.

Would love Clyne, think he was struggling for games seasons end as well cos of a young lad, who's name escapes me.

    Not impossible.

Gino Peruzzi anyone? If we start now, we can confirm the transfer has fallen through by August.
