Hello, and seasons greetings to everyone out there in Hull City 606 land. As the title states, this is my first post - so please treat me gently! I've followed City for over 50 years and seen a lot of ups and downs in that time - definitely more downs than ups! I remember some great days at Fer Park during the Chilton, Waggy, Butler era, and dire football that we all suffered in the late 80's and 90's. However, there was always the hope that the "Sleeping Giant" would, one day, awaken and great times would follow. The dream of Hull City playing in the 1st Division, or getting to play at Wembley, helped keep the faith in many of those dark days of turgid 4th division football. Since the move to the KC Stadium we have enjoyed, in Hull City terms, unbelievable success. Most of us would never have imagined back-to-back promotions, being classed as a "big fish" in those lower leagues, when our away following was almost as large as the home support. Then we dared to dream, and made it to the promised land of Premier League football. Those first three months of life in the premier league were as good as it gets being a Hull City supporter, and to think back then, we were every other club's second favourite team! Trips to Arsenal, Tottenham and Manure, will live in the memory till the day I die. Relegation and promotion since then did nothing to diminish the feeling of pride I had in my club. The takeover of the club by the Allams seemed to signal a new, exciting, era in our history, and the first signs were very encouraging. However, I don't need to remind you all of the circumstances that have brought us to the dark clouds of frustration and, to a certain extent, apathy, that now hang over our club. Before the move to the KC Stadium, talk on the terraces of Fer Park was that, if we ever got into the 1st Division, there would be gates of 30,000 watching City. Yet, in 2016 the reality is that probably half that many are turning up to watch top flight football. The reasons for this have been well documented on this board many times, but is summed up in two words - the Allams. Now is not the time for apathy, or the feeling that there is nothing thing we can do - we, as supporters of this great club, must do all we can to rid ourselves of the disease that is the Allams. Do they have any intention of selling the club? I really hope so, but I fear with Ehaw at the helm, we are destined for a return to the dark days of the 90's. All of us must remain united in our desire to be rid of these morons. Let's start by making the KC (I can't get used to KKOM) a cauldron of noise, backing our team, but also vociferous in our wish for the Allams to go. The time for silent apathy is over - let's hear the KC reverberating to all of the anti Allam songs we know. I realise that they do not attend the games, but it is a simple way for us, as fans, to express our disgust at their running of our club, and show that we are united in our desire the see the back of them! United we stand - divided we fail! Apologies for the length of the message - I hope I haven't bored you all!
Totally agree. That kind of atmosphere happens organically, but there are things that can be done to stimulate it. The club's efforts have been woeful and mistrusted, the fans' efforts can be better. I think banners can be a big rallying point.
Thanks for all of the comments - I've never felt the need to make my feelings known about the current situation, l just enjoyed reading all of the regular posters on here. You never know - I may well be hooked now and there may me no stopping me! It won't be long before I'm boring the pants off you all!
