Hello everyone, I'm a new poster that has (by and large) been enjoying this site for a while. I live in Melbourne (was actually born here) but am a mad City supporter. My family background is Hull. Believe it or not, my brother and I actually travelled to Hull a few years back to see the Tigers in their first ever premier league match and now I'm silly enough to sit up 'til all hours and listen to the games on Radio Humberside. I hope to be able to join the various debates on this site. First of all let me say that in spite of feeling a bit sad at the way it all ended for our Nick, like most of you, in addition to wishing Nick all the best, I'm excited about the future and think that Steve Bruce is a good appointment. Well that's it by way of introduction and I hope you don't find the next bit a bit cheeky from an "outsider". I read on another site - I think it was comments on a Daily Mail article - that some of you are finding the "Fools rush in" song, a bit boring. I agree. So here's one to think about. I'm afraid I'm not computer savvy enough yet to include links but you can find this song with the original lyrics on Youtube (Nothings gonna stop us now) posted by "The80Page". Apologies to Jefferson Starship - here's my Hull City amended version. Not living in England, I could be wrong but I don't think any other supporters sing this and it would be nice to do something original. Sorry for the length of this post - here goes..... Through the Tigers eyes we see a paradise The world that we've found is too good to be true We're standing here together just so we can give you The song in our heart that we're feeling for you (MAYBE POINTING AT THE NORTH STAND) Let 'em say we're crazy we don't care about that We've got faith in you now and we won't ever look back Let the world around us just fall apart City we can make it if we all have heart And we can build this thing together in a world of black and amber Nothing's gonna stop us now And if this world should favour others we'll still have eachother Nothing's gonna stop us nothing's gonna stop us now We're so glad we've got you we're not gonna leave you Whatever it takes we'll stay here with you Take it to the good times see it through the bad times Whatever it takes here's what we're gonna do Let 'em say we're crazy what do they know We'll keep supporting City won't ever let go Let the world around us just fall apart City we can make it if we all have heart And we can build this thing together in a world of black and amber Nothing's gonna stop us now And if this world should favour others we'll still have eachother Nothing's gonna stop us nothing's gonna stop us now Oooh, all that I need is you All that I ever need And all that i want to do is support you forever Ever and ever And we can build this thing forever in a world of black and amber Nothing's gonna stop us now And if the world should favour others we'll still have eachother Nothing's gonna stop us .......Nothing's gonna stop us And we can build this thing together in a world of black and amber Nothing's gonna stop us .......Nothing's gonna stop us. Well, have a listen and try to sing along to the Youtube version with the lyrics. I look forward to your views. Cheers.
Welcome to the site. Will give it a try then. We may just have enough time to sing the whole song from the time the players emerge from the tunnel to ko Yes its a time for an upgrade from the "Fools rush in" tune. Maybe the last verse can be the quick fire version.?
Have you ever met the average East Stander? Even if they could remember the words, they can't even hold a pint, let alone a tune. I've said before, we need to sing Caravan of Love (from Hull).
Yeah, well I concede it's very long but I guess I thought that if you see any mrit in it at all you can amend or shorten as you see fit.
Thing is though, I posted a song about Barmby on here a few months back, then realised it would never get started. Chants usually start by one person at the back then everybody joining in. If nobody knows the words, they aren't going to bother and it's highly unlikely that 18000 Tigers fans read these boards. Unless there is a meeting where they do chanting practise. But yeah, the Elvis thing needs to stop, it's just **** now. About 9/10 of the stadium don't join in until the last line, so you get "nuurrrnurrnurrr, nurnurnur, nur, nur, nur nurr, nurr, nurr...FALLING IN LOVE WITH YOU!" Also they need to get rid of the gay, discoteque 3000 clapping song after the players come out. What's wrong with just playing the Republica song for a bit longer? EDIT: It's a good take on the song though mate welcome to the boards
If you could just organise getting the whole east stand to an agreed pub before the game......well, thanks for your comments on the song anyway. It was a bit of fun getting the city references in there!
Thanks for all the warm welcomes. I revisited England about a year ago and spent some great times with family (includind seeing City beat Liverpool 3-0), and went to the Hull history centre and dug up some really interesting - and I must say, quite moving, family history dating back to the 1897 cencus. I know Hull might not be everyones idea of the ideal city but i enjoyed my time there and in other places in the East riding too. If this song I've suggested doesn't grab you, be prepared to be pestered with some others. I love singing and the part it plays in English football. Stand by!
Welcome to the Board thistimetigers, make sure you read the Forum Rules/Hints thread made by Ricardo. Enjoy the debates
Welcome to the board son of Hull! You going over again this summer? A few ex pats are meeting up from all over the world for city's first couple of games including Melbourne Tiger. you wanna join us?
Thanks johnfirth, sounds like fun. Not sure whether work commitments will allow but I'll have another look closer to the time. If only these things were just about "wanting".
You start us off and we'll hum the music welcome mate, you'll get on well with john firth he's also an ex pat, just make sure you copyright your username
Welcome! I have always thought for a long time we need a 'song of our own' but i think we need to pick something that realtes to our club and works for us, the main issue is how do we mass market this and get your average fan to learn this? Impossibly task but surely there bust me a way? On a big news day our section gets thousands of visitors anyway so must be a way!
Thanks Legend, Glad to be part of the forum after having been an observer for a long time. I must say I've really enjoyed alot of your videos over the last few years. Being all the way over here, stuff like that on the internet is a really nice way of experiencing some of the feeling, which you've captured really well.
G'Day thistimetigers. There are a few Tigers fans in Melbourne, starting with Cowboy1, and Maccca. I live in Adelaide. Welcome to the boards
Back in the day we used to publish it in the fanzines and get as many people practicing it in the pub beforehand. These days you may be able to get it into a program if "wholesome" enough, but mainly you just need about 10 or 20 people together singing it week in week out until the knowledge grows.
