That was the perception Smithy but it's been a busy FAA cup weekend. Most clubs wouldn't have been interested in doing business this weekend.

Couldn't give a **** about other clubs pal!! And I've not seen we've been linked with anybody lately! Gus said he's been offered about 100. Doesn't mean he's tried to sign 100 does it??
What does surprise me is how late in the window many teams leave it, its not like they don't know its coming. Surely fees are only going to go up as the time ticks and the players will be missing for more games in the season. The last few days of the window is definitely a sellers market which you should only dip your toe in if you've just ripped off another club for one of your players really.
Disco has it, Alonso doesn't need a work permit as an EU citizen. Been looking at likely movers, and it screams at me that Steven Defour & John Heitinga would be unreal signings, both available, Defour desperate to come to England. **** knows on the striker.
Our only Signing so far wasn't picked up by the British press until it was tied up. Cards close to the chest sounds good. I'm convinced the British press base their rumours on logic rather than any actual credible tips anyway. We've been linked with 29 players so far that I can find.
There's not been a great deal of activity from anyone yet, have faith, I'm sure the staff are working their socks off in the background trying to make things happen. Gus has already said he has targeted potential signings, we just need to wait for the announcements now.
The window only opened on Wednesday ffs and we've had 2 games and cup semi final to plan for in that time. There have been TWO working days to register anyone but have already got one signing in now. Bids are in by all accounts for another 1 or 2. You'd think it was January 29th or something.

Looking at the positives, the signing we have made straight off is an excellent one for a problem position. And to think, the press had or LB link as Wayne Bridge! Haha.
It's a good sign that we're not conducting negotiations through the back pages of the press imo. What does 'linked with' mean in any case ........... if anyone's mentioned people just say the media are making it up. My comment about other clubs is just to indicate that very little happens in the first week.
So long as they are in by January 31st I don't worry. If we haven't brought 3 or 4 in by then, with a striker the most important, then I'll start worrying. Until then I'm enjoying the cup runs and the league games too. Carlisle in the FA Cup, Man Utd in a semi final and culminating at Fulham at the weekend. Great stuff for the first few days of 2014.
