so now the new season is nearly upon us,liverpool look like having given us £22m in the close season, now that they have bid 15m for joey(bbc sport),who do you all think we can realistically, get as a replacement, and how far away are we from having our finall squad for the next 6 months?
After watching the game last night I don't think he needs replacing per se...hell the way Michu De Guzman and Britton worked in the middle I was asking who would we drop to put Allen in the team!! Some of it will need to be spent on providing a bit of depth in case of injury but i'd keep the bulk of it in case we need to bring anyone in in January.
yup i was thinking the same, infact i think we may have to thank the liverpool board for the cash injection!!
Yep definitely. A lot will hinge on whether De Guzman will cut it in the the prem but I was impressed by what I saw. Dont get me wrong i think Allen is a good player but id snap Liverpool's hand off for £15 million...too think Carzola and Ozil cost less!
Vorm ... Rangel , Williams Chico , Taylor ...... Dyer , Britton , Agustien , Michu , De Guzman ... Graham .... and that's without Allen or Sinclair .. good to go if need be & knowing we can bring in new players any day
Cant see Sinclair going, he knows how a team with a massive squad will affect his chances of playing after his time at Chelsea. Unless Rosie digs her heels in about moving 'ooop norf'
If Sinclair doesn't think that he'll ever get in a big team, he lacks ambition IMO. If the offer is true and it's right for him, he'll be off. He'll probably earn more than double what he's earning now. Worth the risk of the bench if you ask me
I agree with the above comments. I know there's a lot of affection for Joe Allen here but £15M for a 'tidy' player who's had an adequate debut season? Take it! When we've lost so-called 'irreplaceable' managers and players in the past we've gone on to bigger and better things and this will be no exception. We have proven to be a remarkably resilient club. Allen's strength is retention and distribution (usually backwards) and from what I've seen we'll still have players who can do that (though hopefully passing forwards). All this assuming Allen wants to go, of course. If he wants to stay then great - we don't need the money per se. Laudrup clearly has the contacts and has a real insight into La Liga where I'd expect any replacements to come from. I don't really care that he knows little about the Prem where players are generally overpriced. As for the games themselves our established players will know who to watch out for and educate Laudrup who will be on a learning curve for a while. As I've been saying for ages we have a lot to look forward to.
Does anybody have a handle on what the new acquisitions does for us under the 25-man roster rule for domestic player minimums. We have to be getting close to our quota of non-domestics.
The definition of a "domestic" is: The mother of all fall-outs when FSG realise they've got a dud manager".
That's a funny twist English or Welsh = domestic, e.g Scottish counts as foreign ..... But we've always known that . Apples to Senior players, 21-under don't count. Somebody posted the full rule a year ago I think.
i suppose i can understand that rule when a welsh team plays in an ënglish" league but to make scots and nth irish foreign is odd unless the same old story of keeping national identities
