The Mirror has an interesting article on their ideas of the top 10 contenders if the Glazers sack Moyes. See: - http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/new-manchester-united-boss-contenders-3438458 Even a return for SAF is considered and there is a poll for you to select your choice. (My choice turned out to be the least popular ) Klopp has 46% of the votes so far.
If I were Fergie, I wouldn't return. He has a spotless legendary record at United. Whoever takes over has a very tough job on their hands.
Bloody hell, not much of a choice is it? Capello would have been ideal 12 months ago. I do want our manager to tighten up our defence, but right now more than anything I want a manager who wants to build an attacking midfield with a bit of steel. I want a manager that either understands United's traditional style of play OR happens to manage in a style that suits ours. I no longer want to compromise performance for results (otherwise I'd support Chelski), I want a manager that believes we can have both. It's a shame Ancelotti won't be available. I would love his style of football at AC Milan (and somewhat so at Real). Fergie is not coming back. There's probably more chance of him managing Scotland than managing United (probably more chance of him managing England LOL )
I really don't want van Gaal. Think I'll act like UIR did with Moyes if he gets it. Got to be Klopp for me. Forward thinking revisionist. Or Pep, who is just brilliant. Klopp more likely though.
I'm not sure who I want to be honest, I like Simeone, Klopp and Conte, all good young managers. Maybe though Van Gaal's experience is what we need. I think our players might respond better to an older wiser guy like Van Gaal. I don't want to see Giggs or Carlos Qerious. Giggs hasn't proven anything as a manager, and would only be getting the job on sentiment . Qerious whilst a good number 2 for us, failed badly in Madrid when given his chance, and I don't think he's proven enough to be the manager. We are better off going for a big name though, as with all the cash we apparently have to spend, we need someone who can attract the top quality players we need
That's always been exaggerated. He had an 8 point lead iirc in March. The Real slump at the end was down pure and simple to the in-fighting of a few egos of that galacticos side undermining Queiroz and going over his head (Raul was prime example). His management wasn't at fault, moreso the egos he was managing. Throughout that season Real Madrid played bloody well and should have won the league. Not saying that he should be manager, his time at Portugal is probably a worse indictment of him as a manager. There was a time when I wanted Queiroz to take over, but not any more.
I'm curious who qerious is? As long as the new bloke doesn't come in and say we aspire to be Man City he'll have half a chance.
Well UIR now's the time, you confidently stated that Maureen would leave the Chavs for the Utd job if Moyes got the push.
Something along the lines of saying Liverpool are favourites at Old Trafford should do for him. But otherwise aspiring to be one season wonders? No.
I am a little concerned about how SAF reacts to events - Moyes was after all his annointed successor, so what sort of influence will he become now. Will he see it as his job now to support the new manager - ar will he become all bitter and twisted now that his pet project has been derailed. Interesting to watch how this plays out.
I'd imagine SAF was involved in the sacking, he's on the board after all. I don't see why he wouldn't support the new manager, Fergie wants what's best for us
Sir Alex needs to be less involved I think, must be hard for him to let go after all these years though.
This has shades of the Busby situation, it always has had. He should take a back seat in choosing the new man and then leave him get on with it. Can't stop him going to games though, whoever comes in has to deal with that.
Amongst those, Klopp should be the man. He is proven, got charisma, quick attractive football, a bit nutty like Fergie at times, and might help bring Reus to United too (wishful thinking).
A lot of people on the radio talking about a Scholes/Giggs double act, some people really need to wake up, and stop looking at things with blind hero worship. Giggs and Scholes are not football managers, I wouldn't even say they where ever leaders on the field. They where technically great players, but neither where vocal leaders like Robson, Keane, Neville or Vidic
