Too soon ? Well we know that Peter Taylor has a contract that will be 'paid' until the end of the season - if When we suffer relegation, I would be surprised if he will be our manager next season. I'm not going to suggest a possible replacement - because whoever might come in will inherit a poisoned chalice. What we need is new players. Of the current squad there's only a handful - mainly younger players, that I might keep.
Too soon, yes. Whatever will be will be. If we get relegated it should now be at the hands of PT. I don't like what I am seeing in regards to tactics but what I don't know, is it because the set of players we have either need to get used to them or we have the wrong set of players to implement them. Alternatively it could just be that against Notts County we were unlucky. alwaysright covered this point in a camel thread comment. How many times was the ball cleared off the line. alwaysright counted five. Hence my OP in that same thread of leg before wicket. Things could have been so different if those goals had gone in. The frustrating thing for me was to see our team hold at the half-way line while 2-1 down and only stream forward when 3-1 down. Again Bayo was unlucky, any other day his run and strike would have flown in the net. At the moment I do not like Peter Taylor's tactics and i'm struggling to see how i can even blame that on what MA built. Once our fate is decided I will then like managers before him make my own personal decision, if i was pushed for an answer now, it would be a negative one. So until end of season we must hold faith with Taylor in whatever he is attempting to achieve. The problem now is you need a different style of team for League Two in comparison to what you need for League One, I thought Martin Allen would have found some magic formula that can give a combination of the two. I've not seen that. Personally I would rely on giving players like Dack their chance. On Saturday he had one hit the post after a little back flick and later on got us our only goal. Young Hessy had awareness about him in midfield and did nothing wrong. I know what I feel is the way forward but does the man in charge...we will see.
I don't think a lot of our current players have the ability to perform in this league, poor first touch, unable to run with the ball under control, can't get past defenders, poor passing, lack of vision. When we had the two loan players it made the team look a lot better (injuries! just our luck at the moment) and it will be January before we can replace them and get back on track. I know some people don't like using loans but it's just the way for poor clubs in the lower divisions, Notts County had two loan players getting their goals on Saturday, admittedly our defenders not being able to deal with balls on the ground doesn't help. To have a long term future in this league requires building a team who can play football the right way, Taylor given time and support can achieve this, we just need to have faith.
