Swanny has tweeted that short list will be announced tomorrow, interviews next week then new manager by the end of next week.
why would they announce the short list? Who ever they appoint people will moan that the chose the wrong one from the list...
Well looking at the tweet again he just said short list tomorrow so I presumed they would announce it but maybe he just meant they would have their short list ready for tomorrow, sorry for being misleading.
'why would they announce the short list?' Yes, that would be the normal way - not to announce a short list.......but then there is the Ehab Allam way.
I'd love to know who is on the shortlist, though it obviously won't happen. All of the names mentioned so far have been generic, out of work managers or ones that were linked previously when NP left. There don't seem to be any particularly plausible suggestions.
I agree with most of that however i think Greg Abbott would be my ideal choice, mainly as i have followed him closely as Carlisle are my second side and he has done a fantastic job. I would also love (unrealistic) Eddie Howe from Burnley, might be tempted away but i know thats unrealistic. I think more than likely we will see Kevin Blackwell on there due to his management on tight budgets. Despite him being awful. Then i think you will see Lee Clark and another random/young/cheap up and coming manager no-one has predicted. Possibility of KK or Hoddle or someone daft being interviewed to. Problem is i don't think anyone being mentioned i.e McCarthy and Abbots will come unfortunately.
Not sure I'd be that bothered about Eddie Howe. He's got money and decent players at Burnley but they've been average ever since coming down with us, considering they never had the financial issues we did and didn't have to start again from scratch, you'd have expected them to be in the promotion mix both this season and last.
Neither can i but it was more of a generic name really, i see the Allams plucking a random ex legendary player, come failed manager getting an interview. This is the Allams after all! At PLT - Well i agree that he hasn't done brilliantly at Burnley. Many people aren't huge fans, i have never had any other City fan back me up with him, but what he did at Bournemouth was oustanding, and out weighs one average season or two at Burnley. I think the issues they have had have being injuries. His system is something not to dissimilar to Barmby's however he plays quicker and ups the tempo and he uses one of my favourite term as he likes to attack teams in the 'transitional phase' as teams are most vunerable when they attack, so they always leave men forward and then get the balls to the wingers who attack with pace. I just think it could suit our team, however unlikely it is.
One minute you think that Lee Clark is top of the list and the next he is nowhere near. Just so confusing. I have an awful feeling there is no shortlist and the "inundated with applications" was just spin and they are going to wheel out someone we have never heard of.
I do like the way they play, it's attacking but not in a boring tippy-tappy way it's wide and fast with two proper strikers and two proper wingers. That said, it doesn't work for them that well because they haven't broken away from midtable in all of this season or most of last.
