"Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins has said that the club hope to have a new manager by the end of next week." "I think certainly by the end of next week we will be a lot clearer on the situation." http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/s...s:-new-swansea-boss-decided-next-week?cc=4716 So it's only a maybe. So at least another week of speculation. What's taking them so long? I really can't see what's holding this up.
pathetic really. same old spin with every manager or player...maybe lets him cover himself....sort it out of you make yourself look an amature...
I think that the personality has to be right as well, as Jenkins found out with Sousa, so lets not rush this, I'm sure we are almost there.........................
managers who want to be our manager comes to you and not the other way around......he should be here now going through the applicants and if laudrup has applied all well and good, you dont go swanning off at a time like this.,
We are looking for a specific kind of manager with the right philosophy. If that person hasn't "applied " then there is no need to do a paper sift for interviews. Bottom line there aint too many unemployed managers with the right skill sets for us out there. At this level I would rather us be out headhunting rather than sitting behind my desk hoping the right guy applies. That may have been ok for the Championship but not now. You keep going on about getting the best we can get. Well we are not Man Utd, Liverpool or Real Madrid so we need to be out there looking and then selling our club to the right guy. Its not like Guardiola and the like are going to be beating down our door anytime soon. We dont have that luxury!!
Perhaps Mrs. Huw put her foot down. "I've been looking forward to this holiday all year and we ARE going. Swansea City's new manager will have to bloody wait".
Most great businesses and most great clubs are very proactive and go after the people they want. They don't just sit around waiting for people to apply. Many top people wouldn't bother applying. They would have the attitude that if the company/team hasn't come looking for them, then why should they go. It works both ways. In our case, we want the best manager we can get, so we should be out looking for him, which is what I think Huw is doing. I'm pretty sure it's a working holiday. I doubt he's just sitting around. But if he has already contacted the people maybe there are other negotiations going on that he doesn't need to be a part of at the moment.
