What is it our fans don't understand !! Its his club they are allowed to attend games if they want to if not don't go.
This MP is going about this the wrong way. He comes across as a Newcastle fan who is using his position to put pressure on Ashley. As an MP he should be putting pressure on the government to press the Premier League and FA to take more control over the way that all clubs are run. This should include forcing all clubs to have full financial disclosure, to ensure they act as independent companies and all related party transactions are in the best interests of the club and not the owner. Also that each club has an independent director preferably appointed by the PL or FA or Government. The fit and proper tests for owners should also be carried out again every few years and any owner who fails the test after an assessment of their performance over the previous period should then be forced to divest their interest in the club within a set time period.
Aye, he's just trying to act like billy big bollocks and swinging his dick around to impress his constituents.
In Rafa Benitez’ time at the club, there has actually been a profit of over £30m made on transfers in and out. Talk about getting a good manager and backing him. Rafa has to bear the cross of Schteve's mistakes apparently
Don't mind the last part as you can't look at managers and Clubs finances totally in isolation BUT Ashley would not appear to be keeping to his "every penny generated" promise and that's what I take exception to because even if Ashley did just that we should be so much better off in players terms than we are. Some rent a pundit, think it was Jamie Redknapp, spouting on Sunday that the NUFC players were players Rafa had bought and, therefore, what on earth could Rafa be complaining about BUT ignoring the if you shop at Skoda you get a Skoda and if you shop at Ferrari etc arguement. Ashley should simply, at least, keep to his promise about the money available and then keep out of the rest of it.
I think she’ll be more upset you’ve altered her gender. To be honest she should **** off instead of embarrassing us with this ****e.
It's actually quite embarrassing. What is Ashley doing that Oyston hasn't, but then again that was Blackpool so probs didn't matter? Ellis/Villa, Bates/Chelsea, The Porno Bros/West Ham, Ridsdale/Leeds - football owners being moronic and not giving a flying **** about the community is older than the Bible. It strips right back to money, greed, power and corruption in some shape. Abramovic bought a London club because all the blood money (search Matthew Syed/Abramovic for some fab insight) was spoiling his ability to flaunt that glorious wealth in the Western world. There's no love for Chelsea FC. But his predecessor had no less personal reasons for wanting to be involved. It's greed, in some form. It's power, in some form. Ashley saw his opportunity to advertise SD everywhere for pennies. The cost of putting up a 90 minute advert every, single week in front of approx. 1 billion people is astronomical. His mistake, like many before and many after, is how weird football is. You can't just chug along and survive - you'll go down. You can't under-employ senior staff, cut corners, etc. - you'll go down. You can't even guarantee success shoving £300m into the pot, because there's 4-5 other teams will still outspend you. There's no such thing as being "too good to go down". Then he got SO burnt he didn't want to put ANYTHING into it. No thought, no structure, no effort. I think it's all really, really simple. He doesn't have to sell, so probably won't, unless he gets more than it's all worth. He gives his skeleton crew the license to spend everything, but his structure means we're always stuck on a lower commercial income than we really need. His lack of decent employees and whip-cracking Barnes means we're stuck. Who knows what happens, apart from maybe three blokes. I do wonder in part if there's just a weird crossover between Ashley's understanding and Charnley's capability. What if Charnley had £40-50m available, but by a combination of his ineptitude and Barnes' evil eye he just couldnt spend it?
Errrm.... please tell me you were joking and didn't actually think Chi Onwurah was a man. You know, hence my calculated, jocular response.
Okay - I was joking ................or maybe I was being incredibly sexist and assuming that it was a man because it was an MP!
She's changed tact and gone about it a better way now. Chi has now asked for both the BBC and Sports Minister to explain/investigate the potential legality in NUFC's advertising and club shop accordingly, and encouraged a review of the financial relationship between SD, NUFC and MASH. She needs to get exposure into practices governed by the FA and the PL. Right now they are hiding well below the parapet hoping they don't have to actually do some work. All of this could well have a knock on effect to better regulation of the game, period. The monetisation is ridiculous - how can Man City justify a net spend of £400m in two years? Under Fair Play they should be out of European competition and should be facing fines by the PL. But they're not - they are lauded by pundits and media. It's just not right. As for Ashley, he's actually not a very clever man. Anyone saying he's a good businessman is missing the point - he's a guy who had a good idea, once. A pretty good entrepreneur at best. But what that does NOT make you is a good businessman. His moves in Debenhams, HoF, etc., show he's missing the point entirely, that he isn't really up to speed. He's got a model that keeps him wealthy - buy a tracksuit for 50p, sell it for £5. It remains relevant today because that's society. There's not a lot of money, and people like adidas. But he's on a downward spiral. Whilst SD remains profitable, his profits are down 72% and the shareholders are advised to vote against him and Hellawell for "continuous bad press". This stuff is working. We are making news every week and Mike's then contributing on the retail side by lying about HoF job losses he's about to be involved in. He's a barrow boy, make no mistake, and there MUST come a time when he realises this cannot continue.
There will my friend. It involves one of these: please log in to view this image please log in to view this image Although some of our fans are still adamant he's a Spurs fan for some unknown reason.
