I was exaggerating... But if you take cash option the $500m right away normally drops down by about half... so to about $250m... You only get the full amount if you agree to have it paid to you slowly over 40 years. Then out of that $250 you pay taxes at the highest rate, which after federal, and State taxes I think is a little under 40%... So yeah.. If you take the cash option on the $500m you probably only take home $150m.
Never understood why people wouldn’t just take option of X a mount a month for rest of their lives. Nice to have a steady income
Cheers Dont do ebay though Had bad experiences, account got hacked and everything, was a nightmare I also dont use argos neither, i have never bought an item from argos that has not had to be returned at least once.
I can think of 4 reasons: A bird in the hand... With proper investing you would make more money with the cash option. Short-sighted greed. You might not live 40 more years. Anyhow... I didn't win... Someone in California did, despite the guy at the petrol station guaranteeing me he was selling me the winning ticket . Cash option was $340mill so after tax that's probably closer to $200mill... Not a bad payday for someone.
Not bad and I guess depends on age. But getting x amount a month saves you from splurging it all in one go and then having nothing later in life. Means can just not work, any big purchases can be got within a couple of months
Turns out he wasn't lying. I saw that I hadn't won jackpot... Or the $1mill prize for matching all but megaball. (News said no winner for either of those prizes in SC)... ... But I checked my numbers just now to see if I matched anything or won anything. I matched one regular number and the Megaball. That's a $4 winning ticket. I might go blow all my winnings on a 6inch sub from Subway at lunch to celebrate.
Great. Obviously not enough to get you a session with a shrink - your usernames are getting mightily weird.
They were talking about skin mites having sex on your face on another thread and I thought that sounded a good user name.
