Nah..hes there develop youngsters and keep his mouth shut. Speakman is running the show.
Love how some people pretend to know what exactly is happening inside the club. If he was hired to keep his mouth shouting how come he fell out with current clubs owners

Oof, what a horrible appointment. The bloke has had one management job and failed miserably.

I'll support him completely of course, but it saps the enthusiasm slightly when you're going into a season feeling almost certain that promotion is impossible from day 1.

We waited 4 months for this... It's a worse appointment than Beale, imo

Love how hes getting written off already, being called a yes man, only appointing him because he fits in with the model etc.

We should want a manager that fits a model, you want everyone on the same page as thats the only way youll get success. Brighton get praised loads but they appoint people to fit into a model, most succesful teams do that!

Most havent heard of him, or have seen his team play yet look on Wikipedia see that he got relegated and say its an unambitious appointment.

This guy didnt have a great season last yr, the football seemed to change and i think that was down to 2 things - poor recruitment and him not adapting well enough. The season before he had a cracking season, played some great stuff and really developed the young players there - thats what we need

The recruitment search has gone on far too long, Still was the clear no1 target and they have seem to panic (from outside looking in at least) since then and got back to the drawing board

I suspect this guy has always been high on their list, he has a cracking reputation in france for developing young players and that fits with our squad

Time will tell if he is a success n the right appointment with us but none of us know that at the minute so he deserves our full support
Just seems to be a few on here that will use anything to have a go at Speakman about. Just get behind the new manager if it is him, if he fails then they can blame Speakman.

This is just the narrative that the club have asked local journos to put out. That's fine but to say we have waited for this manager for 3 weeks is not true. If that's the case why was Ronenior spoken too twice ?

I am happy it's coming to a conclusion and we absolutely have to back him. But let's not always swallow the press narrative control Safc play out. We have seen this all before with Pritchard and Still deals.

Fingers crossed this one works out.

yep as ever the truth of the matter will be somewhere in the middle.

the club have clearly had other targets they have prioritized and not been able to get over the line so he is clearly not our first choice. Do I believe this bloke could have been on their shortlist, yeah it’s plausible.

They will be spinning this like crazy and we can see the PR machine is already in full swing

like you say really hopes this works out, if he is confirmed I hope they back him in the transfer market.

this surely has to be speakmans last throw of the dice!!

Absolute fair comment that this could be the clubs spin. Would say though, KLD's 'hope to be imminent' statement came out two weeks ago today. That would kind of tie in with RLB being the main choice at that stage but work permit / negotiations with Lorient have pushed it back a tad.

Could be right about the clubs narrative, but going to give KLD a bit of leeway here. Anyway, you need to get off here and find out some info on our new striker and CDM :emoticon-0105-wink:

Forgive me...but your complete support doesn't seem to be very evident.

Wow, are you actually miserable moyes?

Been having a bit of a ponder about Le Bris this morning. As most know I will seek the positives in a coach and support them. Some say overly so, maybe that is true. But being a coach is far harder than I suspect some might imagine, and to be honest Le Bris looks a smart appointment to me.

We seem to have widely different views on coaches from academy football becoming first team coaches on here. I have coached in some, and they are elite environments. You dont coach in them unless you are top of your game. There are no cone carriers. For Le Bris to have as much experience in that environment is a massive plus. Then his long stint as B team manager adds a lot of experience too.

Academies now are thr biggest part of any professional football club. Coaches in that evironment are highly likely to progress into first team jobs over time. Look at Still, for example, Farioli, McKenna. There are lots of coaches coming through that system. In years gone by that route didnt exist so coaches tended to start down the ladder and work their way up. Arguably though, and it is only my opionion, you get a better understanding of how to coach if you start at younger age groups. You learn how to simplify your delivery and embrace player mistakes.

Le Bris having such an experience in academies will only help us. Our academy is our crown jewel. We must have a coach who embraces that and his background suggests he will.

He is a few years older, and I like that. World earned wisdom is no bad thing. Our players, I hope, will react well to an older head who was seen most things. They seemed to with Mowbray.

I can easily believe he would have been on a long list back in Feb. His reputation last summer was very high after his first full season. Leeds held an interest as did Nice. He was a coach clubs would have been monitoring into this season undoubtedly. Is the relegation a concern, yes of course, but the list of good coaches with relegations on their CV is long. What better learning curve than to fail early in your career.

Re his playing style I am quite relaxed about what it has been or will be to honest. Again I look at academy coaching and whilst we stick to an overall philosophy there is a lot of encouragement to have players learn different formations and tactics. It may just be his depth of experience in that space has instilled a fluid approach to his own playing preferences. I cant see somebody with his experience coming in, looking at our players, and saying low block at all costs. I can see the counter attack a low block sets up, but I can also so he him wanting to hold the ball more and play side to side. Time will tell on that, but I am happy to see how he settles and develops.

As with any coach coming in, unlike some think, I think he may well like working with Dodds as a coach. His reputation is good, Mowbray liked him and trusted him. Not saying he should be hugely influential, but he is a very good 1st team coach I believe.

Now he is going to a leg up by the board. The players we have are not promotion challengers as a squad. We ard short. Lets now start focussing on making us a much more balanced squad with more cohesiveness week to week in terms of style of play.

Haway the lads, and Haway Regis lad (can I just call him Big Cyril?)

So we have waited 4 months for a manager who was relegated last season? We have yet again went for the cheap option to accommodate Dodds and Proctor.

Imagine if we ever showed ambition?

Especially the third minute or so…

I will say this is back when he had Lorient performing season before last mind

The SAFC model will not get us promoted. Its a shop window to develop prospects.

You don’t believe it was still in its infancy as of last season? We’ve had to redress a foundation that was rotten to its core and I’m hoping we’re now ready to implement the changes we need over the Summer for a promotion push.

Failing that, we should be looking at a different set up. But the current one needs this season to vindicate itself, in my opinion.
