Sunderland have new final three for boss job

Sunderland are down to a final three for their manager's vacancy after a chase that has turned into a saga.

The Black Cats have moved on from
missing out on Bo Svensson and the on-off interest in Will Still who came close to joining.

Now there are three candidates who include Dutchman Pascal Jansen, a free agent since leaving AZ Alkmaar.

Stockport's successful Dave Challinor has jumped into the frame after two promotions pushed him into the limelight.

And St.Mirren's Irish manager Stephen Robinson is also being pushed within the Sunderland ranks. He would be keen and Saints would only ask for £250,000

It really is make or break time for KLD/Speakman. We get by far the biggest crowds in this division and better than many in the Premier yet it appears that we just aren't an attractive proposition and KLD and Speakman need to ask themselves how they have created such a situation. Obviously Nixon could be spouting horseshit but appointing Challinor or Robinson would be an utter slap in the face and I doubt they'll recover in the eyes of the fans. If this is to believed Jansen is their last chance.

Jansen could be Dave Jones or Speakman.

At this stage of their careers at least. IMO they shouldnt have even been discussed (I know a few have mentioned theyve seen good things from both of them but too big a jump imo).

If it has taken us over 3 months and can only end up attracting the Stockport or St Mirren manager then not only would I loose the small about of faith I have left in Speakman, but I'd also lose a lot of faith in the model and its suitability for us to progress long term. Sure a few will think I'm being over the top but thats how I feel in the moment at least. Really hoping for Jansen now.

I'm close to tapping out if it's Challinor or Robinson like. Over 100 days without a manager and that's the shortlist we're left with. Jesus Christ.

Speakman should be sacked today for this ****, assuming this is all under his remit. How have we gone from Maric and Still, to ****ing Challinor and Robinson.

If Jansen is willing to come, we should throw everything we have to make it happen, because if those other two are his backups, I'd be gutted.

I get that Challinor has a decent record for a manager, but that's at National League and League 2 level. Are we really that desperate?

I do think it's more than a coincidence that Jansens name came up, then he was over here to do the coaches voice.

His agent follows KLD too. Didn't KLD lock his account?!?!? I'm not too sure.

Agree with everything you’ve said there mate. If Challinor or Robinson were appointed then the negativity from the outset would be huge and who could blame supporters?
