I'm not too sure about that tbh.

He obviously wants to be managing a club this season and there are limited available vacant positions ...

... that fact alone makes me believe that he may still be at Sunderland who clearly wanted/want him.

He's not my first choice.
I'd prefer peter Krowietz, Steve Cooper, or recently mentioned Pascal Jansen.

Although I'd be ok if it is Still who's appointed.

I'm just usure given the timeline. We've offered him a deal which he accepted then reneged. We've supposedly gone "all in" with our best offer last weekend and here we are on Weds with seemingly no progress. Now there will be stuff behind the scenes that none of us are privy to, but it's starting to drag on and on and we are in danger of behind left behind again.

The Sporting Director has spoken in the past about succession planning and how he/the club always has a working list of Head Coaches to pick from should the need arise, yet here we are 5 weeks on from the end of the season and still rudderless. It was the same when Mowbray was sacked, and the same when Johnson was sacked. In fact the only time we've appeared to have a succession plan was when Neil left and we appointed Mowbray, but the more I think about it the more I wonder if they just lucked out by the fact he was a) available, b) interested and c) in the stadium the day Neil left. Speakman covers himself in the glory of appointing Alex Neil, but when you watch STID it transpires it was Neil who contacted the club whilst we publicly flirted with Roy Keane.

I'm not in panic mode, nor do I subscribe to the risible and frankly boring narrative of "107 days without a Head Coach blah blah blah" but it's time for action. Time to ****, or get off the pot.

That's where we have to be careful to distinguish fact from supposition mate.

The reports about Lens may be supposition or his new agent 'playing the field'.

They need to be careful imo ...

... being seen to 'renege' once is understandable, being a recidivist reneger can create an image that restricts his future job offers.

You don’t have to put up with it for long mate, it will be a 108 tomorrow <ok>

I'm having difficulty in accepting the notion that, having apparently made the best offer we can to Still,we're sitting at the end of a phone waiting for him to decide his future.
Maybe he accepted at the weekend and the hold up is just the club sorting out the contracts, accommodation, right size tracksuits for him and his staff.

Maybe he accepted at the weekend but Pascal Jansen phoned and said he'd be interested, so we've said "hold on a sec, Will"

Maybe I'm sitting in a corner, slowly rocking backwards and forwards, making up thousands of different scenarios, because the wait for a new head coach is slowly driving me insane.

It's like going shoe shopping with the Mrs. After 4 hours and 10 shops "Just buy that ****ing pair, any will do"
You're not married to my wife are you?
Wife goes into first shop and finds a pair of shoes that she like but then proceeds to visit a further 19 shoe shops just to check if there's something better before going back to the first shop to buy the first pair she saw only to find that they have sold them!
This is not a metaphor relating to Speakman, purely an observation relating to my wife, then again...

"He is our final, non-negotiable, take it or leave it, last chance, offer.

Please peruse at your leisure and get back to us when you feel like it. Or when your agent is done with his week long lunch meeting with his PA. Or don't get back to us at all.

Whatever you feel like."

Hard to wrap your head around.

I don’t think there has been anything other than speculation and supposition.
