Agree to a certain extent, truth probably lies somewhere between completely misreading the situation/nature of the game & trying to raise income to kove the club forward.....problem now is its done, whats done is done & we have passed the point that, although its not totally forgotten there is a line in the sand where people either forget it to a considerable extent or this club never moves forward & holding on to it becomes counter productive.....the more we make of it the more the kerts up the road lap it up.....put it this way, did you/anyone else enjoy the last PL season & Championship under short plus SD in L1 or the thinking since KLD came in.....its time to move on or stop holding things as deep or some wont ever enjoy this club from that moment forward

Completely agree with this. I never post anything negative about the club as don't think it helps (apart from one post about SD but it was after he left and I was just glad to get rid of him). However, I do worry when we have people in the club, at any level, who are capable of completely mis-reading or not understanding the fan base. That should be something the club ensures can't happen by hiring the right people - something that they do appear to be trying to do on the operations and exec director side of things, so hopefully things like the BCB that would never happen if a fan was in charge, can never happen again.

I have said this before but I think there is a good head coach in Rooney. I watched him closely at Derby and I was impressed with certain aspects. He became a leader and figurehead for a club in complete turmoil. He acted with real authority in that time, bringing some young players together with some older ones. Getting the fans onboard, in an us against them way was very Fergie esque. He cut a really good touchline figure as well. I saw some horrendous refereeing go against him and he was really calm at all times. Good in press conferences as well.

Not sure he was the coach on the grass. That was very much Rosenior I believe. There was signs of a very good pattern to their play, albeit players had to play a little bit out of position. I tend to think, contrary to popular opinion, if be gets his coaching team right, he could well be a success somewhere like Plymouth.

I think he's good, but no better than maybe hundreds of other coaches that don't get the chance because they don't have the name.

Just like Rosenior seems to be getting the credit for Derby a couple of years ago alongside Rooney...Beale got that same credit behind Gerrard at Rangers. We know what happened to Beale when he was the head coach. Rosenior could be the same.

Not that often I disagree with you but I do on almost every aspect of your post <laugh>

I think we've all become a little too likely to think the club are pandering to our whims when, in reality, they simply want progress and out of a league that costs millions just to stand still. This is clearly a massive appointment after everything that's happened and the club, like most Championship clubs, is desperate to get to the PL.

A bit of short lived 'buzz' isn't what we need, this is a serious business and the entire club rests on this appointment.

In my opinion we're trying to get away from ' competent' managers like Mowbray, Rosenior, Heckingbottom, etc. I can't imagine KLD, who can communicate in various languages, found it too impressive watching Mowbray shuffle into press conferences then moaning about all these foreign lads he can't get through to. It's not just the 'language barrier' in my opinion, it's a naturally blinkered outlook in methods, preparation, training, etc.

Hull have had 'success' by grinding out results, that's true, but they'd have just been another Sheff Utd in the PL ...

... I'd feel really flat if we appointed either of Sheff Utd's last two managers, or Hull's, time for a change imo.

I think you’re being a little disrespectful on Mowbray who massively over achieved here, and was liked almost universally by all the playing staff.

Whatever methods, preparation and training he used clearly worked because he achieved playoffs in his first season and was sacked whilst we were 3 points adrift of the playoffs in his second season.

Fast forward 5 months and 2 ‘modern coaches’ later, we finished in 16th and 6 points adrift of relegation.

Give me a choice of Still and Mowbray and I’m taking Mowbray all day.

Still might go on to achieve plenty in the game, but he might not, Reims wernt exactly desperate to keep him despite multiple languages that you like.

Mowbray complained whilst here and so has every other manager under this current regime, they all seem to have the same problems and the club refuse to address them.

I don’t believe it matters who we get, if we don’t get positions filled that every fan knows needs filling we will be kissing our next manager goodbye before the end of the season.

Not at all, I really liked him but part of that is because I'm a lot like him ...

... blunt, sarcastic and a bit grumpy <laugh>

I'm talking more in regards to how the owner may have seen him.

His moaning was unrealistic in my opinion, we had lots of foreign players when he signed the contract ...

... that's modern football for most clubs and managers, like Mowbray, need to adapt or die out.

It looks more and more like messiah Mike could end up returning <laugh><laugh>

I was sure it's Still yesterday, after the text I received today I'd be shocked if he's not announced in a week.

I wouldn't risk the inevitable flak if I didn't trust what I've been told ...

... the RTG spies will have read this by the time I've finished typing <laugh>

To be fair mate, no non-league managers I know would want to work under the way SAFC is organised currently. But that's the way the club is running, so we need to appoint someone who will work that way. Mowbray wasn't happy with it but someone, like Still, brought up in a different football culture, probably will be more used to it.

The more I’ve read the more I want him here haha. I’m really intrigued to see who we actually get

This is why I can't go along with people saying the club should be able to 'read the fanbase' ...

... there were two consecutive posts earlier, one wanting him and the other saying they'd be gutted.

I don't think there's long to wait and the Cup Finals are starting.

I think that's why it's taking so long, Still wants to watch the FA Cup final. And the conference league final.

To be fair I'm only passing on info from other people so it's them who'll be smug ...

... it seems an ex-player has just messaged one of them, was asked a question and didn't deny it.

TBH, I'd rather be wrong and have the announcement made at half time in the Cup Final <laugh>

I'd prefer not to be wrong entirely though.
