Partly agree. But at any level of football 2 wins in 13, for a side previously harbouring hopes of relative success, you would want to understand what is behind that. We all know managers live and die on results in the here and now, not on any past success. He cant just get a free pass with our fans because he is the favourite for the job, it is ok to point to his recent results. My view is it looks like they have fallen away in their league campaign and as a prospective future coach here I would like to know what he has been trying to do in these games. Like you say coaches have bad runs, it is how they operate in that period that can be insightful.
Maybe he switched off once Sunderland showed an interest.

I agree it's unlikely they'll get in the playoffs but it's definitely possible, win their game in hand and they're 3 points off 6th with 2 games left. Point is he's got them competing at the right end of the table at the business end of the season.

Not sure having a good squad is a negative, they've spent a bit (less than us apparently) but hardly doing a Man City. I've thought they looked a decent watch when I've seen them and as far as I know their fans are happy with him.
I enjoy listening to him and he's clearly a good coach, just not so sure this season has been the success some see it as.

Not really understanding what you mean by a free pass tbh, nothing wrong with commenting on his results but ive watched them a few times in this run and theyve been unlucky (they are def missing a striker - where have we heard that before)

Any manager that comes to us is likely to have had a bad run or job in his career

No matter who comes in they have my full backing

Beale had mine even though i didn't rate the appointment but i wished him well n wanted him to succeed

It feels like there's a bit of trouble at mill with Still and Reims like.

Maybe he's working his way out of the place. If they sack him, no compensation.

Think reims made a big sale in Jan, could be an answer regarding form.

Context always important
Yeah sold Matusiwa who was arguably their best player first half of the season, replaced him with Stambouli who has played just 190 minutes since joining.

I just don't have whatever information you have to make an assessment.

Dodds seems well regarded as a coach but I know little about his coaching other than he clearly isn't a head coach. Proctor I know even less.
For some reason mate he's got it in his head that the club selected Dodds and Proctor as the head coach and assistant.
He doesn't seem to understand that the club are using the most experienced coaches at the club to fill in until we can recruit our number one target.
He honestly believes we have picked them as our first choice for the job

My issue with some of the comments regarding replacing him are similar to what you've just said FellTop.

We don't know what pool they looked at and what the outcomes were. The only thiong we know for certain is that we didn't sign a championship ready player.

Now, whether that was wage demands, availability, transfer fee or they didn't want to come we'll never know. But for anyone to say we didn't cst the net is purely speculation

You could use the same logic to justify never signing a decent striker ever again. We have a history of signing good strikers. It shouldn't be that hard.

You know the vocal minority will moan if we appoint him and go on about his current form

We could appoint klopp and some of our fans would moan about that hes only won 1 league title with Liverpool

Some times managers need to go through a bad run of form to improve, hes still young so will be learning all the time

Rohl is still my 1st choice

I've been seeing comments regarding how Coventry are 'showing us how'.

Really?

Gone backwards in the league this season, sold off their two best players and their ground is owned by Mike Ashley.

If Sunderland were in that situation people would be screaming.

Exactly mate, its just because they got to a semi final

Most clubs have issues but according to some of our 'supporters' every club is in a better position than us

Find the discourse around Simms quite odd aswell. He scored 3 goals between August-January. We'd have written him off as a failure and a waste of money.

Also seen some questioning why we couldn't have signed Haji Wright despite him costing 9million and them only being able to sign him because of selling players yet the same people will be furious when we sell Clarke and start shopping in a similar market. Sick and tired of it now it gets me down some of the **** I read from our fanbase.

I just hope when we do sell Clarke etc. that we replace them properly. Can’t fault Coventry’s replacements for their better players they lost.

I tell you what our issue is in comparison to the likes of Coventry...in my opinion anyway.

There is less expectation with those teams, but our fans sometimes have an elevated expectation. It's understandable.

I think you can mind, they've got worse and a big part of that is Simms failing to deliver for long parts of the season. Wright is quality though

Aye some just want to bash the club no matter what

There were folk on here who slagged simms non stop when he was with us, saying his work rate was shocking, movement was poor and that his link up was embarrassing. He joins coventry and they comment that they are delighted we didnt sign him

He starts to score goals since the new year and they slag the club saying we should have spent the money on him

It just felt to me that when people called out the current results they were being dismissed as fans who dont look at the context. If I misunderstood apologies. But folk have a right to point to what look like the sort of results that are worse than some of our coaches appear to get under pressure for. We have a horrible record with supporting coaches generally.

Feel free to ignore me. I think he is entirely the wrong profile for us. Like you though I will support him 100%. Probably more knowing me, I am something of an arch defender of coaches on here. I dont dislike Still at all, but I do think the Reims story is a bit overblown. If they get him, I just hope he is given a fair crack at it. Mowbray wasnt and Beale never was.

How come? If anything it isn't talked about enough how good a job he's done.
