Burstow only seems to break into a sprint when there’s no one around. Useless waste of energy but does a few sprints to make it look like he puts himself about.

He doesn’t have that striker instinct to me, at least Rusyn (and even Hemir sometimes) looks to play on the shoulder and will make runs away from a CB. Burstow never does. So I don’t even know what he’s meant to be good at or what position he’s meant to be.

Amazing that we went from one extreme in Amad (a superb loan) to the other extreme in Burstow (an awful loan) in one season.
Not long now and he will be gone, but sadly for the wrong reasons not forgotten.

It's absolutely staggering that a lad can so readily throw away an entire season of his career ...

... I loved every minute of playing Sunday League and would come off battered, bruised and shattered.

I've never seen Burstow break sweat, it would take me til Wednesday to be able to walk properly.

I f*cken despair.
Just had a look back at the message from my mate. He lives in Leeds but travels south even sometimes for reserve games. His description of Burstow. ‘Likes to play off the shoulder. Absolute grafter when he was on loan and moves well.,He’s not far off our first team’ . Either he’s not been himself or my mate has blue tinted specs.

Would obviously give him a chance but I’d be canny disappointed with heckingbottom, just screams no ambition to me. Sacked at Leeds after 4 months, sacked at Hibernian after 9, sacked at Sheffield United. Yes did a good job to get sheff u up but got obliterated in the prem. Not at the levels of underwhelmed as Beale but not that far above for me.

If any of the top 6 lost their manager now, would they go for him? I’d guess they wouldn’t.

if the club were so sure he’s the man, why wouldn’t he be here already or even when Beale got it. Maybe I’m being harsh but that’s my initial thoughts.

summed up my sentiment perfectly. I don’t want to be underwhelmed by another poor coaching appointment

Out of the relegated sides I'd say we have more players who'll play at the top level than any other team.

I didn't see a single Cardiff players I'd have at the club tbh.

That goes for most of the teams I've seen this season.

I’d strongly agree with this. Can’t remember anyone at all really impressing me at SOL.

Leeds, but as you say relegated team, Carvalho for Hull, Greenwoof for Boro. Both loan players of course.

West Brom and Coventry both had some canny players but I’m ****ed if I can remember any that truly stood out.

O’Hare for Coventry was very good actually.

I was impressed with Vardy mind

Having said all that just watch Szmodics destroy us today <laugh>

I don't understand why he hasn't done better, there's obviously something because he only has a few NI caps.

Perhaps he's a late developer but he's late twenties so another Pritchard as far as Sunderland are concerned.

I think we have players who are becoming better anyway, Aouchiche just needs coaching on his tracking back imo.

Boro have an option to buy Greenwood for £1.5mill apparently they might not take it up. I'd certainly have him here

I’d rip their hands off for that kind of money. If you walk out the ground thinking an oppo player was a ****ing prick, that’s because they were quality and/or a ****house. He was both.

Agree on Aouch Smug, he could be the 10, Jobe the 9. I’m convinced or almost convinced that Jobe could be a monster 9.

His brother said that was his best position if I remember correctly.

Apologies this should probably be in the transfer thread.

Yeah I agree i'd have him here in a heartbeat. Apparently he's tailed off after a great start to the season, but it is his first full season in men's football.

He was class up here and down there. 1.5 mill man.

Spot on, no striker's instincts and no graft to make up for it. One of the major sources of frustration this season for me has been how much game time he's had when your average casual observer could tell after his first couple of games he was useless.

Why people who are professional coaches kept playing him ahead of Rusyn and Hemir is beyond me. Rusyn especially, at least he works hard and has a shot when he gets a chance.
Three was a rumour that we tried to buy him last summer rather than the loan we ended up with, that might explain why he was given more chances to prove his worth.
All it has confirmed is what we can all see apart from the coaches, that he isn't good enough for this club.

Exactly the type of player we need to be focusing on for this window. We need a bit of backbone. Centre half, centre midfield and centre forward all with a bit of nastiness about him and we're an entirely different proposition.

We can get back to building our stockpile of 19-23 year olds who don't know their best position but are vaguely 'attacking players' in the winter.

I couldn't work our where Aouchiche was playing yesterday ...

... some of the time I don't think he could either.

Watching the highlights he appears in almost every position. I admire enthusiasm but he was playing Styles who hasn't played much and was out of position a few times at first. That might've been because he didn't know who Aouchiche was tracking.

If Alese plays today I'd expect him to be a bit more vocal and get a bit more order into things.

Imagine if Adil keeps getting game time and improves in to the player he looks like he could be, Jobe ends up being the no9 we've been missing, Ba ends up being coached in to the final decision that his game lacks, these could be 3 massive players for us next season, the players people have criticised, the season that people have said is a complete waste.
That we've gone backwards, signing these cheap foreign youngsters.
If they progress next season along with Rigg becoming a first team regular because of the minutes he's had. This season going the way it's gone may turn out to be a blessing.
Yes it hasn't gone anything like anyone would have wanted, however it could have been the season which is part of our development. In this process every season isn't going to be huge steps forward every time. Some seasons we may need to take one step back to take 3 forward the following.
The players we signed in the summer were never going to be championship ready this season, if by the end of next season 5 are that's progress , just not as instant as some want.
Exactly my thoughts.

Great post mate.

Ba frustrates because his head goes at vital moments, that can be coached out of him ...

... at the same time Neil should be coached at kicking the ball into the net <laugh>
