I'm not condoning how they run the club but having a pop at the recruitment process and likening the club to a love sick teenager was wrong. Having a go at them for getting rid of Mowbray or appointing Beale and leaving Dodds in charge for so l9ng then I'm in
The two chancers you supported were n't out of their depth they were just stripping the club. I think you'll find that owners such as Roman Abramovich simply put money into Chelsea as loans (about £1 billion if I remember correctly)
He'd get a fair crack, but the idea that you can just forget everything you've learned previously and might have reason to be concerned about and blindly support if he was appointed is mental. It's beaten wife behaviour, 'it'll be better this time' despite feeling exactly the same.
I’m absolutely fuming about Robinson, can’t believe we’ve appointed him. I’ve returned my season ticket and cut off all my fingers to make sure that I can’t reapply for one.
. And that’s the thing with irrational love, you don’t always realise how much destruction you are causing.
Recruitment in any walk of life involves looking at someone's track record. They are the facts that you deal with. 350 games as a manager is like 11 seasons and in those seasons he has a win record of 35%. The highlights are mid table finishes in a pretty weak Scottish Premiership. How that fits into Speakmans improvement culture is anyone's guess. You may not want to look at a candidates past record or you may think it's not relevant but you will be in the minority. No one would argue Robinson would be an ambitious appointment.
What we've also learned recently is that sometimes fans call it absolutely correctly based upon what they've learned about a coaches behaviour and methods before they were appointed.
Looking just at a win % takes it out of context tho. Hes done brilliantly with st mirren, taken them into Europe with one of the lowest budgets in the league. They are a very hard working team and hes made every player better Having said that the jump would be far too big for him but id also say some people need to stop believing everything they read on the Internet
Fans moaned about neil n mowbray and were wrong with that A lot were spot on about Beale but we also dont know who they are after and what they are looking for in a coach
I agree. He might come here and do a great job. That relies on Speakman seeing something in him that the publicly available information doesn't suggest though. Do we now trust Speakman to do that? A cynic might suggest that it's so big a job that he'd sacrifice all power in the relationship with Speakman to get it. And that's just how Speakman likes it.
My recollection of the reaction to Neil and Mowbray was pretty much 50/50. Underwhelming but might do a decent enough job based on their history. With Beale it was obvious before he was even appointed what would happen.
But also needs insight and context. I’ve seen one added. What has Maric achieved as a head coach? Rohl before Sheffield ?
Good comments. However, if we are to be promoted we are looking for the next Kieran McKenna and Robinson is closer to the workmanlike journeyman that McKenna. He is cleary popular at St Mirren but is equally unpopular at Morecambe or Oldham. He would not be an ambitious appointment.
Yes it would, he club is far too big for him imo. I do like him though, based mainly on what I've seen on Scottish news ... ... his players seem to be prepared to run through walls for him and I think he has a decent future. And there was a great 'discussion' with a supporter that sticks in my mind. You're right though, we need someone who'll give us all a boost before they even start work.
Totally agree. Maric or Rohl would have been a risk as any appointment is but you could see how they could fit into a long term strategy. They fit into the 'McKenna' category. Robinson would be an uninspiring appointment, the sort that Stewart Donald would go for. If he was appointed I'd try and see the positives but it would leave me and all fans flat and it would make me question both KLDs long term strategy and his suitability as aon owner. Fan-wise we are clearly the biggest club in the division but we certainly don't seem to act like it.
