David Cameron will signal a fresh row over the green belt today with the appointment of a minister who describes opponents of planning reform as âhysterical, scare- mongering latter-day Ludditesâ. Mr Boles has a track record as a radical thinker who wants to slash red tape to boost the economy. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...untryside-campaigners-Luddites-appointed.html Hopefully it might help us?!
It surely cant do us any (more) harm. Cut the red tape, cut the crap, and lets get the stadium built ! Only then can we plan properly for the future
The goverment want major projects to go through to get the ecomony moving. So this could be their way of moving things along.
Here Here, to much pussy footing about lets the Aston Vale built, get the new Sainsbury built, all the new housing and commercial units over at the existing sainsbury, what a jobs and supply boom that is. That is just one small pocket of the uk. comon lets be having you lets get it done for the sake of Bristol and its people.
The retail studies say the upturn will be neglible, or a reverse. Supermarkets run for the benfit of their sharehoders and take money out of economies. Sake of Bristol and its people? Most people could not care less and those it affects most are hardly significantly in support, check voting patterns v councillors politics in the area.
wont be holding my breath, wasnt it, the who, that sang meet the new boss, same as the old boss, just another faceless beaurocrat. nothing will change.
Unfortunately the scenario regarding our new stadium is a modern day example of the madness and lack of decision making that plagues our world. If only a fraction of the monies spent on legal wrangling was dedicated to actually getting things done then we would all be better off. It seems that nothing can get done in many aspects of society without commissions of inquiry and legal suits both for and against whatever issue is on hand. The only people who benefit from any projected development, or in our case a new stadium, are the lawyers who essentially are only interested in lining their own pockets and will prolong the agony as long as it is to their advantage. Hang on a cotton picking minute - sounds just like football player's agents doesn't it? What happened to the good old days when you woke up one morning to find a new stadium in your backyard and you never even noticed the prologue to the event?
I know Sainsbury's have the planning permission to build on AG, and they probably will get the minimal in the end. Don't think for one minute that they will rush the bulldozers in once it changes hands. All the supermarkets are at the moment buying land to prevent their rivals getting it. Sainsbury's will wait until this recession has lifted a bit before they sell their land to property developers simply to get more money from it.
Boles' appointment won't make a single bit of difference to your stadium development. Boles does not believe in planning at all and thinks that it should be a chaotic free for all, but he still has to work within the framework of existing legislation.
