I know the new fixtures are released tonight, is there any great science to choosing the fixtures? We seem to start at home more often than not, just wondered if they alternate it so we will start away this year or if there is a particular logistics or police reason that will favour us starting at home?
I don't know, they have to take into account a lot of things, eg. Stadium shares, policing etc. Suppose it will depend on whether FC are at home or away that first weekend.
This is from a few years ago, but I always end up reading it around the time of the fixtures being released. Ever wondered why you have had to travel the length of the country on a wet Tuesday night to watch your team in action? Or you haven't played at home on Boxing Day for the last three years? Like me, you've probably just blamed the fixture computer, that mythical piece of technology that determines where you will be and when throughout the football season.
Philip Buckingham ‏@PJBuckingham Had a quick look at #hcafc fixture list for 2012-13 and I have to say it's a pretty tough start. Out in 15 mins Expand Reply Retweeted Favorite
"hcafc open with Brighton (H) on Aug 18 then it's B'burn (A), Charlton (A) and Bolton (H) before first int break." Edit - Bucks isnt wrong, that could easily be zero points after 4 games and that's not being negative.
Boxing day should be good, we come to the KC. We played you there on boxing day a few years back and we won 2-1
Tricky start, but if we can get some points on board early on we can start to gather some momentum! You've gotta play everyone twice anyway so I'm not getting overly bothered about dates.
Much better Christmas/New Year games than last year. Boxing Day - Leicester (h) Sat 29th Dec - Leeds (h) Tue 1st Jan - Blackpool (a) Tough start, but you've got to play every team sometime and there's no reason why we can't hit the ground running.
Great fixtures!!! Start with home game, finish with home game and 2 home games over Christmas. I'm well 'appy
Charlton away on my birthday? Thank you very much Football League! ROAD TRIP! Also, will actually get to see Leicester and Leeds at home this year, I'm happy with the fixtures! Brighton at home will be a hard start though but if we can win that things IMO will be looking very good!
Anyone think that perhaps we won't be playing some of those fixtures at 3pm on a Saturday after Humberside Police panic and have them moved?
