Its sort of gone under the radar of late with everyone concentrating on the start of 2014 but the FIA was open to new entries until recently. StefanGP has already failed once... Gene Haas Racing is NASCAR? Supposedly chasing Ferrari engines Colin Kolles was between 2005 and 2009 team manager of Midland, Spyker and Force India. With money so tight for the majority of teams I'm surprised theres new teams looking to join in. Will have to google translate this - http://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/formel-1/haas-racing-will-2014-in-die-formel-1-7984603.html
Was StefanGP on of the more serious bidders from the last round, or the one everyone thought would be a bit of a joke?
Interesting, cheers. I'm trying to remember who Stefan GP were... Aren't they Serbian? I'd give it to them, just for the name and their persistence.
I'm sure Stefan was the dodgy as hell team, the one that just seemed to be run by a mafia arms dealer? Or maybe not?
I believe Stefan GP acquired the rights, etc to run a Toyota, I'm not sure if it was the one from the previous season or one Toyota had nearly finished work on before pulling out, I suspect the former. I think they had Nakajima lined up to drive for them, and Mike Coughlan and some of the old Toyota staff on board, but never got selected. Pretty sure they then took the FIA to court over it? Something to do with Cosworth engine bias, not wanting more constructors? I can't really remember.
Just saw this on Stefan GP's wiki page. please log in to view this image They've been trying for a while...
I do remember some rumours like that going around but I wasn't sure if I should post that Actually, I would have liked Zoran GP even more: sounds like a Bond villain, Christopher Walken... Anyway, much more interesting than Colin Kolles
Stefan GP is run by dodgy arms dealers. A bit corrupt if you ask me. I will be surprised if Lola, Brabham and Andretti havnt put their names in the hat as they were making noices before the entry was open
I bet Haas Racing will become the 12th team. Remember this? Ferrari willing to help 12th team from USA get into Formula 1 (12th Dec 2013) The AMuS article talks about Haas Racing wanting Ferrari engines, and former Red Bull team manager Guenther Steiner leading the project. With a 100m+ budget and Ferrari support they seem to be the best option. They would probably start off as backmarkers if Dallara are building the car for them but beyond that you could see them becoming a successful midfield team. Kolles surely has no chance, he failed with HRT and recently resorted to blackmailing Wolff. As for Stefan GP, what do they have other than an obsolete 2010 car?
That was the joke entry. USGP headed by Peter Windsor. Got their entry then had to withdraw it as they couldn't even build a car.
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/81593 oh, just look at the driver line up StefanGP planned to use in 2010
I thought that was what he had on his head. I heard he gets a servant to run over a fresh one every morning using last year's Red Bull; a quick wash and it's ready for styling. But it may just be a malicious rumour Back on topic, the more I hear about StefanGP's business affairs, the more they sound perfect for F1.
Partly helped along by Bernie, who did nothing but call them dead from day one and helped scare off any potential investment.
Was anyone else not aware of a team in the 80's called Team Haas, the last US based F1 team? No relation to the proposed "Haas Racing Developments" team.
