Colin Sexstone has become a non-executive director.....one of his aims will be to increase the revenue of the club.

Career service man in the RAF reaching the rank of Group Captain.

Has had successful times at Gloucestershire CCC and long period at Bristol City, looks a useful person to have around.......will he maybe take over from Chairman Brent one day ?.

Another way to increase revenue would be to have a winning football team rising through the leagues........will that also be addressed soon.

Article to be found on Newsnow.

Checking out PASOTI & ATD.....they all seem to be in favour of this appointment and give Colin Sexstone a favourable write up.

His spells at Gloucestershire CC & Bristol City both contained stadium developments...

Note though that he's a non-exec, so it won't be a 5 day a week post - not even 5 days a month in all likelihood.

Oh I didn't realize that meant that he was only part time notDistant........when leaving Bristol City he said that he was going to pursue other pursuits......whatever that means.

So how much of his time will PAFC get.....would be interesting to know.

In the "real" world, non-execs attend board meetings and also get involved in strategic stuff, not the day-to-day management. Usually, they bring in expertise that's different - in this case that's football [and sport generally] owing to the absence of anyone else who knows the game!

They also serve where there's a need to represent external stakeholders where there's a danger of conflict of interest with the executive management team - the remuneration committee & the audit committee are the classic areas. That's not terribly relevant here I suppose.

My comment about 5 days a month wasn't random - it could be about right. Of course, if he's a stand-in for a football savvy chairman and an expert on stadium development, he may be a bit busier than that.

In an interview with South West Sport, James Brent admitted that "we recognised since we put the board together that we are relatively light on football expertise"..... slightly surprising seeing that he did not rush into naming his PAFC Board.

When asked he admitted that Colin Sexstone could be a future MD of the club........both Brent and Sexstone have said that discussions did not go down that road at present....and Sexstone said that he hadn't thought that far ahead as yet.

Brent said it would be good for Colin to meet the other directors and for them to meet him......and we would take it from there......interesting that Sexstone did not rule it out as a future development.

He is 64 and it looks as if he also has taken up a non-exec type position with Gloucestershire CC - I wouldn't be surprised if he tries to build up a portfolio of non-exec roles rather than jump back into the pressure cooker of an executive job.

That isn't to say he won't be useful to Argyle - it could be a very cost-effective way to get access to his experience when it's needed rather than 24/7.

We need somebody with some experience in football and he seems to fit the bill so not got a problem with this appointment particularly. I hope Brent listens to him more than he appears to listen to some of the superfans in the Director's Box.
