The Athletic are reporting that we have got our new man and it’s Matt Crocker, FA Head of Development and our former academy head. Nothing official announced but it would be a pretty sound, logical appointment with a tremendous upside. Hope it pans out. They also say he'll be joined by a head of recruitment-type soon after appointment. That'll be the player trading specialist the club have hinted at.
Article is with subscription only and Carl Anka is a good dude so I’m not going to be a **** and copy/paste it. Pay him his money.
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...oint-fa-development-chief-matt-crocker-asnew/ don’t know why that didn’t pop in my news feed earlier but there we go.
On the official page too https://www.southamptonfc.com/news/...jnGqMjfbqMtXEb1E2LTJwT4GMvsxOFhHFdMhKpKKEsicQ
Dont know too much about him and he doesn't his career history is neither incredible or worrying - only time will tell i suppose
https://not606.com/threads/saints-stuff.313456/page-579#post-13335771 I win! Crocker was well-respected here, and was well-respected at the FA, but got passed over for the FA technical director position a couple years back. Given that rebuilding our youth system is a top priority, he seems like a very sensible choice.
Well called! I'd say top priority for me is getting our recruitment back on track as that has severe long term damage (as we are finding out). Although I suppose bringing through academy talent has the same goal as recruitment
Sounds very positive...did a good job here before (so familiar with the club and some emotional attachment) and was well respected at the FA. I was unhappy with how people weren't being replaced at the club....Ralph needs to be given some support from a real football man as he must have been feeling more and more isolated. Good news.
