please log in to view this image by Setanta Staff , 19 April 2012 QPR boss Mark Hughes is set to offer midfield play maker Adel Taarabt a much improved contract to keep him at Loftus Road. Last summer the Moroccan was expected to leave the R's and move on to Paris Saint Germain, but that move never materialised and he stayed at Loftus Road. After a unsettled first half to the campaign, Taarabt has found his Premier League feet under Mark Hughes and is now appears to be one of the first names on the team sheet. His current deal runs out in 14 months, so club officials are eager for him to put pen-to-paper on a new deal this summer to ensure he stays with the Hoops. http://www.setanta.com/ie/Articles/2012/04/19/New-deal-offer-for-Rs-star-/gnid-139108/? This article seems purely fictional and made up, surely? Cerny? Any truth or no truth ?
i dont thin AT would sign anyway. not until he knows what league we will be in next season. from a neutral point, he'd be stupid to sign before the summer
You could say the same for any player who has 14 months left on their contract and who could be considered an asset and not going to be over the hill. This could equally refer to 20 or 30 players in the PL. Many will have already started negotiations, some contract extensions will almost be concluded as a clubs future in the PL is assured. Whilst ours is in the balance don't expect any new contracts until they know the state of play. I am sure that there have already been conversations, if not negotiations, regarding the future of several players. But until the fat lady has sung her final note nothing will be done. Having said that, if we go down I can't see him staying.
Boss Hughes keen to cement Taarabtâs long-term future at QPR 19/04/2012 by David McIntyre Mark Hughes believes Adel Taarabt should commit himself to QPR for the good of his career. Rangers are refusing to discuss new contracts until the summer but intend to offer Taarabt a vastly improved deal in order to secure his long-term future at the club. And manager Hughes is convinced he can get the best out of the Moroccan, whose current contract expires next year. âWe wonât be discussing any contracts until the end of the season, but Adelâs a talented boy and Iâm pleased with what heâs produced,â Hughes told West London Sport. âIf he stays â which is my intention â and works hard over a long period then I think heâll become the player that he should be. âHeâs not there yet but heâll get there. Heâs a big part of what we want to do at this club.â Taarabt, 22, was out of favour at Loftus Road prior to Hughesâ appointment in January. The playerâs improved performances have led to reports he could leave west London, with German outfit Wolfsburg among the clubs said to be showing an interest. But Hughes insisted: âItâs just speculation. Heâs part of what we want to build in the future and weâve no intention of allowing him to leave. âHeâs a free spirit, but his performances are starting to have an effect at Premier League level and that will continue because heâs embracing what weâre telling him.â http://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/hughes9-keen-to-cement-taarabts17-long-term-future-at-qpr/
Adel flourished when Warnock more or less said that the team would be built around him. It backfired a few times but on the whole it worked and he was instrumental in our promotion from the Championship. Since getting into the Premiership the emphasis has been taken off Adel as some 'big' names have joined and the focus has been on a different style of play. Not getting a move to PSG and a less important role in the team & tactics has badly affected his performances this season. If Sparky thinks that Adel is "a big part of what we want to do at this club" then he needs to work on a strategy that makes the most of his obvious talents and at the same time incorporate which ever signings have been made since August last year. All this may well be moot if we get the drop as I can't see Adel staying at Rangers along with a whole host of other mercenaries. Not saying I'd blame them for leaving as football & loyalty aren't words that go together much these days.
