I currently prefer Jon Flanagan at RB. But tbh Johnson would be decent experienced competition for him, or better, if he can get that drive back in to his game.
I've always thought that he was a good attacking FB. Obviously, that's what BR wants. His performances earlier this season weren't great but we learnt that he's playing through injury. He didn't look bad playing out of position on Sunday. I'm undecided and will gauge his performance between now and seasons end before saying yay or nay but not on the money he's on now!
Someone on here said a while ago that they fancied Sterling as a right wing back and I think that could be a perfect position for him, get rid of Johnson quickly, play Sterling as an attacking rb like Johnson used to be and sign the plank to play where Sterling is playing now.
a new contract doesn't mean he will be paid more, I've no doubt it would be a pay cut for him. halve it to 40/50k and he's a more than useful squad player tbh
True, we probably would struggle against big dirty cloggers like Man United or Stoke with Sterling at rb but thankfully we wont have to play teams like that every week.
Keep him, unless we locate a better attacking RB in the market. Rodgers fielded GJ on the left. Will he keep him there, with Flanagan on the right? And when Enrique becomes available, make GJ compete with both him and Flano?
I'll pay his taxi to the airport. No chance should he stay. Also it's bollocks about him playing through injury - he'd been playing crap for the 15 months prior too. That's one hell of an injury..
Simple really, if there's a better option out there, that we can sign/wants to come to us, is also younger and will be cheaper (wages), then its a case of thanks for your service Glen, but close the door on your way out. If we can't get a player in that is at the very least as good as Johnson when he's at his best, then I say keep the lad but on a reduced wage. I also think Agger will be shown the door too! #meerkat
Wait till we sign a replacement before kicking Glen to the curb. But to the curb he should be kicked.
I really cant picture this. I think Sterling is turning into the ideal wide forward/off the striker type player.
Maybe Brendan is taking the Ayre-less route. Don't go to market, keep GJ and make offer to Cissokho. 4-5 FBs, half of them interchangeable, that's good enough (+ Robinson potentially)
Apparently, I don't even remember ever spelling it kerb even when in UK. Either my mind is going or I always misspelt it.
