Its looking more and more like Spurs are reallly gonna dig there heels in and keep modric for at least another year and Chelsea may yet pip us to sneider if this happens who would you want to see brought in as its clear we need a quality midfielder.
Personally i'd like to see Gourcuff or Schweinsteiger; both quality players that would add something different that none of our midfielders have, not positive but i think would both be slightly cheaper alternatives to sneider as well and definetly cheaper than the price being quoted for pastore.

Pastore isn't a really a center mid - more a "kaka" second striker type.
Centre mids need to be team players who pass well.

He runs into alleys, he can hold the ball for too long and his passing isn't great or consistent.
He's a player that get it right once every four times and makes it look flashy.
He's a final third player imo, not a pace-setter like Schweinsteiger or Modric.

I don't want Pastore or Sanchez..
We already have a "solo" player in Nani, we need team players who actually look up with the ball at their feet - like Scholes did.

Modric will be too much for us this summer.
    We need someone...
But I really have no idea who though to be honest.
    De Rossi?

Nuri Sahin would've been perfect for Man Utd.

    Schweinsteiger

Is impossible to get, Bayern players are literally what you call impossible to buy. We even struggled to buy a cripple from them.

    <laugh> So true ..

So many teams would've bought Lahm if they could've, but German Bayern players are pretty loyal.

Look at Ribbery, they even stopped Madrid from getting him. They don't sell players and if they do, they literally take every penny from you and looked how they turned us over with Hargo. People forget how big a team Bayern are, they are a massive team and are not a selling club and if the player is German, you have absolute no chance of signing him. Forget about Scwingstiger as he is not moving.

Thanks ive seen a fair bit of sanchez hes a good player but wont make the first 11 at barca; although rumours of him going there have cooled a bit, definetly not what we need though we need at least 1 CM either someone with creativity who could possibly score us some goals or someone who can dictate the game e.g. xabi alonso, one of each would be nice though lol

He's a talented player, no doubt...He kinda reminds me of Kaka in his Milan days.
But his passing game isn't as good as Kaka's.

He's the main man at Palermo - and basically has a free role, but Rooney is the man who already does that job for us, so I don't think we need another second striker/roamer.
The videos show that he is a threat, and he does come up with some moments of class.

But he's at his best when he's counter attacking at speed with open space.
I personally feel that if we are gonna spend that sort of money we need to be bringing in a deeper centre mid with the ability and confidence to literally pick the ball off of the centrebacks and get things going (like Scholes). Someone with consistent short/long range passing who will station themselves on the halfway line and thread the ball about for 90 minutes.

I feel we have enough fire power, we just need one or two consistent, comfortable centre mids.

That's what we need. Someone who does not give that ball away - ever. He can tackle too. He's so comfortable on the ball that he hardly even sprints.
He just takes the ball off of the defence and makes things happen.
And he still manages to get forward.

Very similar to Cesc actually - even runs like him.
Real have a top talent there.... For me - these are the real talents, not the Pastores etc...
Exactly what we need, and Real got him for pennies.

Same deal with Sahin as Ozil - his buyout clause was tiny (I've heard as low as 6.5 million Euros). As soon as Real met that fee they could talk to him, offer him their usual 6 figure wages, and that was it.

It'll be interesting to see what happens with Modric, cos Spurs made all the same noises with Berbatov, but he ended up moving in the end. Regardless, like I said before I don't expect a new CM to come in until mid July at the earliest, after everyone's back from their holidays and some of the more peripheral transfers have been made.

I think Ashley Young will be bought and will play in the Centre as he does for England.
