With Hobbsy out untill christmas, and despite Cooper proving to be a decent backup towards the end of the season, perhaps we need one more rock solid defender to match Chester's (if he stays) free playing flare, if we do get Steve Bruce we could get Kilgallon on a 6 month loan, he would be a decent signing alongside Chezzy and could cover for Hobbsy, don't think we'll go for Ant Gerrard as he will perhaps want a reasonably long contract with a certainty of first team football which he may not get. Who else could/should we get for 6 months untill Hobbsy returns from injury, and if so could challenge them for a first team place if we get them for longer?

I'd be happy with this layout for 12/13:

    Right back: Rosenior, cover: McShane
Left back: (if Dawson goes) Dudgeon, cover: Cooper
Centre back: Hobbs, Chester, New Bloke, Cover: McShane, Cooper, Bradley(loan?)

Unless we have a defensive crisis, that should do fine - no need for the likes of Parnaby for cover.
Having said that, McShane staying appears unlikely.

    Who would take him?

No team would touch those wages and the Allam's would surely be reluctant to subsidise them for an entire season.

I was going to say he's only played once since our Championship return.

Am I losing my mind? I really don't remember him playing 19 (<yikes>) games for us in 10/11!?

Does Turner get a regular game ? I'd take him back, happily.

Zak Whitbred has been released by Norwich. I think he would be a good signing to cover Hobbs

He wont be first choice when Wes Brown and John O'Shea are fit. He was not happy with Steve Bruces training methods at Sunderland so who knows if Bruce could get him back. Assuming of course that SB is the man to replace NB.

The simple answer for me is Anthony Gerrard. He is out of contract in a month. AG would slot in very easy. But dont rule Cooper out at all.

Turner and Campbell coming back would be beyond my wildest expectations. Who's to say they would be as big an impact as previously though.

I think there's more chance of Guardiola becoming the next City manager than that happening.

As unlikely as Turner/Campbell are, that is a bit of a stretch too far ;)

Turner is a far better chance than Campbell. Maybe better to wait a year and get him back for nowt.

That would be the chappie, though he's started playing for them again since O'Neil returned, so he might not be available anyway.

I'm not sure where this myth that Turner doesn't play has come from, he was out for well over a month last season and still make 29 appearances for them.

With O'shea, Brown and Turner for centre backs, with possibly a new one at Sunderland, Mr Bramble as backup, perhaps we could get Kilgallon on a 6 month loan untill Hobbs comes back, and when he does come back Cooper can cover

O'Shea mainly plays at right back for Sunderland and Bramble is currently suspended for being a junkie rapist.
