Not good news on the QPR front. The Mittal's have made a slightly improved offer to buy the club which has been rejected.

Northy - If true then this is surely part of the negotiation process, much like buying / selling a car.

If BE/Flav didn't want to sell they would come out and publicly say it 'We're not for sale' or somesuch but to me rejecting an improved bid is just hardball deal tactics. They can only sell the club once mate. I would see this as good news conversely.

That is of course all predicated on the basis that Smudge1962 is actually telling us facts that are true.

Totally agree. Though the Mittal spin machine did say to the press that if they took control Warnock would have a £50m transfer kitty. How true that is will remain to be seen (possibly).

All good things come to those that wait....that's what my mum used to say. Course she's totally mad but the sentiment is there.

Continued brinkmanship then, and in the meantime, opportunities to strengthen the squad pass us by and NW gets closer to walking.

I'm inclined to believe that the Mittals will spend if they buy the club - I base this on the non-scientific facts that, having watched them in the executive box throughout the season, they are extremely enthusiastic - in fact, they are QPR fans - they bring a huge contingent to the games, give their undivided attention to what's happening on the pitch and leap around like the rest of us when we score. Second, if they take over the club, QPR will take on part of the Mittal persona - I don't think they'd be happy slumming it down at the bottom of the Prem, and still less in lower divisions.

As to timing of the bid, in the absence of a third party interest, the Goon's apparent non participation in the leadership of the club means they will soon be sitting on a dwindling asset. The Mittals know that - the longer things are left, the more pressure on the Goons...but not good for fan's nerves...

Yep Goldie its a game of poker alright. Wouldn't like to bet who is the better player. You don't become a billionaire by being a soft touch.

Anyway just think, in a couple of weeks time we could be cheering Helguson & Hulse or Tevez & Forlan....???

    (That was a joke)

I agree too. FB and BE must be in the position of having a club worth X and they want to maintain that value. Signing on fees especially and, to a lesser extent, player purchases reduce that value but doing nothing (ie condemning the club to relegation) also reduces the value of the club.

I hope this gets sorted soon though - this is about as much fun as sticking my balls in a blender.... :0/

I may be wrong, but that's not my recollection, Swords. Bernie just said it was an insulting offer.

This is true. Eccles also said that anyone claiming to bid will have to ask if it's actually for sale.

Patience is required now more than at any time; we cannot influence it but the notion that the Mittals have cone back with a new bid is encouraging.

I can't find a direct quote from Mittal or Bhatia anywhere which states that there would be a £50m transfer warchest. Is this yet another thing that someone wrote on here (or another site) that was wishful thinking and has been taken by the majority as being 100% accurate?

    Yes.
When Mittal announced to the press that he was going to buy Ecclestone's shares and take over QPR on the following Monday(early June), Ecclestone was quoted as saying that Mittal forgot to ask him if the club was for sale first.
That's my recollection, could be wrong too!

Sounds right to me -twins. The manner of the bid and the amount didn't please him, but I don't think he said the club isn't for sale, and so left the door open

That's exactly what he said. So is it for sale or not? I suppose there's nothing in the world that's "not for sale" given the right price.
