Despite the lure of the promised Land, Leeds United seem unable to prevent taking their fans through the roller-coaster ride of huge expectations and eventual dashed hopes. But this is what we are here for. Hope. And expectation. And desire. And rivalry. Football is not a one-team sport. That;'s why it is so good, but also why it is frustrating for many supporters. There's another team competing in each game for the sprints, and there's 20-odd others competing over the marathon. They want to win just as much as we do. And they do win just as often if not more than we do. Chances are, we will fail once more in 2012/13. I believe this to be more of a possibility now under Ken Bates's stewardship than in previous years, irrespective of manager, leading to the same bloody ending that we all despise so much: failure. But we keep coming back. And that's what makes us great. And one day, chances are we will get promoted again. Can't guarantee that our next promotion won't first follow relegation though. Roll on 2012/13. Looking forward to the excitement of pre-season in Kirkcaldy, or Dumbarton, or Rochdale
